This TCL Roku TV is a budget 4K set that stands out for low pricing and long-term reliability in everyday use. The Roku interface is familiar, sideloading is possible with Google TV on some setups, and several long-running TCL sets are still working well after years of use. The main drawbacks are the smart TV software, which can slow down and show more ads over time, and the built-in audio, which may need a soundbar. It also is not the best fit for serious gaming, where 120Hz sets make more sense.
TCL Roku TVs can stay usable for years with only minor issues like a dead pixel.
TCL Roku TVs can be made to run smoothly by clearing Roku caches or resetting the interface.
The TV can be used with an external computer to bypass the slow TV OS for that setup.
The TV can support sideloading apps on Google TV, which can help find YouTube alternatives.
The Roku interface can become slower over time and can show more ads and suggested content.
Gaming performance may be limited for Xbox and PS5, and a 120Hz TV is recommended instead.
Roku interface changes after Fox acquisition can add more ads and app-tray shuffling that is hard to fully undo.
Backlight failure can occur after a few years, and replacement may be impractical compared with buying a new TV.

Will it give it a try again today evening. It's a big TV for my viewing distance, moved from 43 inch TCL 4K.

Although I attribute much of the OS slowness to age, and was considering this deal to update the hardware. My second, and newer TCL Roku TV is working pretty well.
