Beyond Burger patties are a close stand in for ground beef, with enough similarity that they can replace pricier beef in burgers. The deal math lands around $4.48 per pound after Walmart Cash, which is near current ground beef pricing and makes the pack feel worth trying. The comments also note a lower saturated fat profile and an 18 percent fat blend. The main caution is that the regular price still feels high, and the Walmart Cash and Ibotta offers appear to be mutually exclusive.

Common Questions (4)

  • No. The deal is one or the other: you can use the Ibotta rebate for online purchases, but if you activate Walmart Cash, the Ibotta submission can be rejected because Walmart Cash uses Ibotta as the backend.

  • After the $6.75 Walmart Cash, the 6-pack works out to about $4.48 per pound. That puts it slightly below the cited $4.97/lb ground beef comparison, though the regular price is much higher.

  • They are described as pretty good and close enough to ground beef to buy instead of expensive beef, though not better than real beef. The patties also reportedly have lower saturated fat than before.

  • At the regular price, it is viewed as too expensive; after Walmart Cash it drops to about $4.48 per pound, which is considered low enough to try. One recent purchase was around $15 a month or two earlier, suggesting the current offer is mainly attractive because of the discount.

This looks like a $6.75 discount after a recent price increase of $4 or $5. Just bought these a month or two ago for $15

I'm not sure if it works for online/mobile purchases, but there's also a $6.75 rebate on Ibotta for these.
Another user kind of commented it but to by more explicit: Walmart Cash uses Ibotta as the backend. If you get the Walmart Cash then Ibotta already knows that and one of the submissions will get rejected.

These are $8.976 a pound before Walmart cash, $4.48/lbs after W cash. Ground beef is $4.97/lb.
80/20 fat content. so lots of shrink as it burns off on a medium well beef burger, not sure the fat content on these but doubt it is 20% fat. net cooked weight is what you have to use to compare the costs.

"plant based meat"
Yes, it's plant based meat.
Fun fact, "meat" and "flesh" is also used to describe the inner pieces of fruit. Been that way for centuries.

it should be cheaper than real meat for mass adoption. Also reduce bad macros...

Edit: Looks like they did lower sat. fats. Keep it up!
I agree, that's when I'll give it a go. Question is, why isn't it cheaper already? Corporate greed, or just so ultra processed and complicated to produce? The source materials shouldn't be more expensive than raising and slaughtering animals.

After Walmart cash it comes to $4.48 a pound. That's low enough to try it, but definitely not at their regular price. Don't worry, if it looks like it's bleeding it's only pomegranate juice, lol.

It's 18% fat (82/18), so pretty close to as greasy.

It's not scaled to the extent that industrialized animal torture is. Real beef is cheap because of the epically scaled industrialized animal torture that gives zero flips about animal welfare and instead only focuses on profits and price. Else if meat production and consumption was more responsible and respectful of living life, you'd be paying $50/lb. The tradeoff for low prices is the pain and suffering that sentient beings go through on a daily basis. And one can only hope that all who carelessly choose to turn a blind eye get reincarnated as one in order to get an intimate personal account experience.

I don't know if that fully explains it. Yellow peas (the primary ingredient) are dirt cheap and billions of dollars have been put into these meat substitute companies. If it costs more to make fake meat than raise meat, that will always be "the" problem. People aren't going to pay more.

All of their source materials are readily available at scale, that's why I don't understand why they haven't produced their products at scale.

I decided to look it up the company. They traded at a high of over 7K per share and now it's just over $14.08 a share. If you like these enjoy them while you can. The company is doomed. That's why Impossible Foods hasn't done an IPO, they see what happened to Beyond and there's no demand for their product either. If you invested $1000 at their IPO it would be worth -$983 today.

Don't get me wrong, if they can make a healthy meat substitute (no proof of that with Beyond or Impossible) that was cheaper than meat, I'd be all about it. I'm still waiting for that. By the way, in for one

It's also a significant pushback from the meat and dairy industry. As you can imagine, the corporate takeover of farming would like to continue their gold mines and grip holds on the industries. It's been a constant battle to even keep the products in the same location on shelves so that people can even notice them. But it's not like real meat is any different… it's a catch 22: You already have endless healthy options that aren't as greasy or receptor stimulating as meat. So wanting "healthy meat" is itself a misnomer because there is no such thing. To give you the taste, texture, and so on of meat, they need to add all the crap back that real meat has. And voila, it's no longer healthy. If they give you healthy you'd complain it's nothing like meat. I have given up all animal products for 10yrs now, and it's all just a habit and human BS, none of which is necessary. I also skip all the fake cancer and just stick to natural unprocessed foods. No meaty grease fest for sure if you eat healthy, but I have zero deficiencies and there is infinite protein with plants too. Try to cut back the meat out of respect for life… it'll benefit your health too. 100yrs ago we all ate meat once every 30yrs and were twice as healthy as today. And if you want to indulge every now and then, the fake meats are as toxic as the real thing. No difference. But at least you'll know you're not eating the flesh of an epically disrespected and tortured animal. What we all do is unfathomable. People are weird little hell zombies in that if it's out of sight and out of mind, somehow they delude themselves into baring no responsibility for any of it, even when fully participating in it. Instead, when the topic is raised is when excuses, justifications, and personal attacks follow… rather than self reflection.

"100yrs ago we all ate meat once every 30yrs and were twice as healthy as today." Sorry, that's absolutely not true. 100 years ago Americans ate meat of some kind practically every day (along with eggs and dairy). Pork and beef were eaten daily, but ironically, chicken was a luxury. People were not healthier in 1920, look it up.

There's no debate whether meat itself is nutritious. All of the reasons it is are easy to look up. It is still recommended as part of a balanced diet. It is true that health organizations have been changing their recommendations suggesting we eat less red and processed meat, but lean meats are still considered highly nutritious.

I come from a literal third world country and all of my family's ancestors lived to nearly 100yrs old with meat being a 30yr anniversary luxury and healthcare being nonexistent. Today, in that same region, everyone is chugging 30 pills a day, is obese, has cancer, and is dying at 50. And America? We're a literal seeping sack of grease. You can't maintain a serious face and call Americans today healthy. Pull up any picture from just the 1960s and try to find me a single overweight person. You don't even need to look anything up. Research your own family and how long they lived, how much meat they ate, how heavy they were, and how many pills they chugged. You chug meat because it's convenient and good tasting, not because it's good for you nor because it's necessary for your diet. Cocaine can also feel good, should you chug that? Sex feels good, are we cool with cheating and screwing hookers? Just because something tastes good does not justify behaviors behind it. And if you're religious: Friggin Adam and Eve got condemned for eating an apple, and here we are chugging tortured flesh as we pretend to be following the word of God lmao… sounds more satanic than anything. Every nutrient that's in meat you can get through other means. After all, how meat gets all its nutrients is an animal eating them via plants. And then for you to be getting yours by eating the animal is not only the most inefficient way of utilizing food, it's also the most self-debilitating because with the beneficial stuff you also kill yourself with literal carcinogens from cooked meat and other crap that plants don't have. Animals eat one another out of desperation to survive. They don't lavish in it, raw meat tastes like shit. They do it out of survival, and when they do it they take full responsibility for the kill and for the mess. And when they do it, the animal they kill lives with dignity to the point of death. You and I have 300,000,000 options for every meal, and bullshit away all responsibility behind grocery shelves while financing an operation that no sane person would ever condone. One that forces birth upon innocent life, disrespectfully tortures that life it's entire existence, and then carelessly stuffs that life down throats. When it's hidden behind obscure processes and behind the scenes it's totally cool apparently. The universe equalizes everything, so I know that such sick shit can't go on for decades without consequence… my only point is: live righteously with your own self. Forget me, forget effed society.
