I always recommend spending the extra $ and getting a Genesis line instead. Worth the few hundred extra for the better build quality and space on the grill.

Agreed! Have had mine for 8 years and mostly looks "new" as I cover it. Even without, quickly wipes up and has been rock solid.

I understand the space part which really is just a need basis but Ive read (here mostly) that even the newer Genesis aren't as well made as they use to be. Any truth to that?
I picked up a natural gas model on the last sale, and it's a great grill. This Costco edition comes with some features not offered at other retailers. I have a tall deck with a fabric top gazebo that covers a large percentage of the deck. The 3 burner fit in the exact space I wanted to put a grill (like a glove). If I had a bit more space, I maybe would go for a 4 burner, but honestly, unless you're routinely cooking for a dozen people or more, this is a more than adequate size for 2-8 people, and even more ideal for our immediate family of 3.

I would say if you could find a brand new Genesis from previous generations, you probably would get a more solid grill. That being said I have the most current Genesis and it still is a rock solid grill. I've had it for 3-4 years and still in perfect shape. Feels solid and works great. I'm sure there are some other brands that have taken over Weber for quality if you are a diehard. For the regular person who wants a quality product and know that parts for their grill will be available forever, the new Weber Genesis is great.

Key words being "a few hundred more". I've seen most of the Genesis line in person, and they are indeed pretty. But for most people that don't have a dedicated outdoor kitchen space, covered patio, or lot of additional expendable income, it's probably overkill.

Yes .... I always recommend spending the few extra $10k and getting a Lexus over a Chevy for overall build quality and performance.
