The DJI Osmo Nano is a tiny wearable action camera that stands out for short, hands free clips and easy mounting on a jersey or helmet. It has swappable batteries, a 4 by 3 native sensor, and strong out of the box color, with the DJI app also getting praise over Insta360. The main drawback is heat, since recording can overheat after about 25 minutes, especially in hot, humid conditions, and firmware changes also reduced 4 by 3 4K 60 frames per second to 50. A compact option if you want flexible framing and quick grab and go footage.
Common Questions (5)
It can overheat after about 25 minutes of continuous recording, especially in hot, humid environments. Firmware reportedly improved the issue for some setups, but overheating can still happen in 100°F+ weather with no vents in the sealed waterproof body.
Yes. The sensor is native 4:3, which can give a small low-light bump and lets you reframe the same clip for 16:9 YouTube or 9:16 Instagram without zooming in and losing detail. One caveat is that firmware reportedly reduced 4:3 4K from 60 fps to 50 fps.
Yes, the batteries are swappable, which makes it easier to keep shooting compared with sealed-battery wearable cameras. That is a practical advantage if you use action cameras heavily and want to avoid battery degradation ending the device's usable life.
It appears expired. The price has risen and the promo code no longer works, with the lowest reported checkout price at $322.
At this price, the Osmo Nano is the cheaper buy by about $100 versus the Go Ultra mentioned in the thread. The DJI app is also described as better, while the Go Ultra is still reported as performing very well.
