I won't buy Monster stuff anymore. I know, it's a quasi budget brand, but a few years back I bought a popular neckband speaker from them, and when I reached out from the website with an issue, they said that they don't support that product, so I'd have to reach out to some other unrecognizable company who makes it.
I replied that's funny, that company somehow is using their name and had gotten the item on their website. They said, sorry can't help you.

So they think licensing their name means nothing but money for them, and they no responsibility after that. That doesn't work for the consumer without transparency so they ruin their reputation for $.

How well do these stay in place? Specifically, will they stay in place during activities like running and mountainbiking?

Don't buy them, I tried them and they sound horrible. Tinny sound and lack of bass.

That's kind of the point? It's an open ear design. Most frequencies, especially bass, will vanish without any seal, especially outdoors. You don't wear these for high fidelity. It's for listening to YouTube and podcasts or books. It's for safety, allowing ambient noise and traffic sounds to pass through. And to keep your ears dry and not plugged up.

Do you have personal experience, or are you just mindlessly parroting negative reviews? This should be judged as an open ear device and not anything else.

These are pretty bad, like Temu $5 bad no name earbuds. Believe me, I buy way too many earbuds as I do with flashlights and batteries. The best open ears I've dealt with are the Bose Open Earbuds Ultra. Those were surprisingly good but way too expansive. Out of the box I didn't have to EQ them. But I get what you're saying, those Monsters lack any definition unless you place your hands over your ears to create a seal. Even then they don't get loud even in a quiet environment to help makeup for its lackluster EQ. The other brands I've tried were Anker C30i, and those were decent. Shockz OpenDots 2, decent as well but Anker still better. RayCon Everyday Clip On...it was actually better than Monster...that says something. Monster isn't the Monster we knew then for their quality cables that was provided for Beats By Dre. Since it lost most of its revenue in 2012 when Beats split away. Monster had no choice but to start slapping their name on low quality products from China to stay afloat. Same for Sharper Image, Polaroid, RCA, Kodak, Westinghouse & etc.

Ordered yesterday and got it today.

Sound is great, fit great, pairing is easy.

Bought a AC317 open ear buds earlier for $12.5, not bad. This one sounds better and worth the extra few dollars.

I have these and these do not sound great. MAYBE ok for the price you paid, but not great.
