This Wyze wired doorbell is a low-cost option for basic video monitoring, especially if you want a wired setup and easy app access. The image quality is described as good, continuous recording works with a microSD card when wired in, and the unit can be mounted with a 12 volt transformer or plug in adapter. The main tradeoff is that this listing appears to be the original v1, which leans on cloud features and subscription access for history and AI, while the separate chime and occasional shipping or packaging issues add friction. A budget pick for simple livestreaming and wired use.

  • The doorbell can support continuous recording when wired to existing doorbell cables.

  • The app can be easy to use for finding and downloading recorded video.

  • The device can be mounted flexibly using a 12V transformer or a plug-in adapter.

  • Some deliveries arrive with intact internal packaging and no missing components.

  • VIPOutlet shipping can take about two weeks with sketchy USPS tracking updates.

  • The v1 model relies heavily on a cloud subscription because it lacks local storage history.

  • The v1 model uses a separate chime instead of wiring into an existing doorbell.

  • Some units arrive labeled unused but missing the wall plate, which prevents mounting.

I used this for almost a year. Image quality is good, recording area don't always work for notifications.
I wired to doorbell cables so continuously recording over oldest videos, used 256gb TF without any issues, their app is super easy to use and find the time you like to watch / capture or download. No I didn't need to pay a dime subscriptions to do any of these.

During the purchase it showed me Fedex. It might be based on the destination that it shifts to USPS. VIPOutlet has always used Fedex shipping to me. You're right about not getting any updates for days, and all of a sudden it may be out of delivery.
Yeah - everything I ordered said FedEx when I ordered, and only one actually shipped with FedEx (the rest are that off-brand USPS option - VIPOutlet is lazy and keeps tossing cameras in padded mailers labelled as UN3091 Lithium Batteries, so they end up having to go ground).

Heads up about this seller, they have poor merchant rep. Please see the consumer awareness thread on this vendor

If this is a V2, then you can use Thingino to hack it and use a local NAS for storage without the subscription (https://thingino.com/cameras/132 )

I ordered on 8/20. They said it's shipped by USPS, not Fedex, with tracking#: USPS Awaiting Item. Shipping Label Created. Is it bad sign?

Nothing is wrong. It will literally sit there for a week to ten days as if USPS hasn't received the item, and then magically scan somewhere else along the way. I suspect VIPOutlet overwhelms the local post office with their shipping (which is why the local post office doesn't scan everything) - it looks like VIPOutlet sells thousands of items a day, and a good chunk of it is getting dropped on that location. Every order I've made with them has arrived within two weeks - mostly landing between ten and fourteen days.

Short answer, no. Legacy Wyze users are on something called 'Cam Plus Lite' which supports somewhat hit-and-miss person detection only, and only for V3 cameras and below (and only if you subscribed years back - new customers get no option for that plan). The doorbells don't work on that plan, so any AI for them is subscription only.

Not who you replied to but I got mine last week and installed it Sunday. It looks like it had been opened and resealed but inside nothing was touched. Everything was still wrapped. I've had the og wyze doorbell cam for 5 years and it's been fine, this was definitely a nice upgrade for less than $20 for sure.
