The free Xfinity Shield camera is mainly a live view security camera, with motion and people detection, app setup, and indoor or outdoor use. Shipping and activation appear to be working for some accounts, and one bill check showed no added charges after a week. The main catch is that recording, cloud storage, and playback require a paid subscription, and the camera may be useless as a standalone device. Eligibility and redemption are also flaky, with missing offers, error messages, and account specific availability issues.

  • Xfinity internet customers who want a basic live-view camera, because it can work without recording and motion alerts are available after setup.

  • Homeowners planning to use the camera with an Xfinity app setup, because activation and connection are handled through the app and the unit can be added as Xfinity equipment.

  • Xfinity members whose rewards page is already working, because the offer can appear and redeem successfully once eligibility and account access line up.

  • People who only need a simple indoor or outdoor monitor, because the camera supports both use cases even though storage and playback are paid features.

  • People who need reliable reward redemption, because the offer can disappear, show eligibility errors, or fail with repeated redemption messages.

  • Shoppers expecting a truly free camera with no ongoing costs, because recording, playback, and motion detection can require a monthly subscription.

  • Anyone wanting a standalone security camera, because it has no SD card slot and live viewing is the only clear no-subscription use.

  • People who want a quick plug-and-play install outdoors, because the included power adapter is indoor-only and setup can require manual Wi‑Fi steps and resets.

Just wait until Flock pays Xfinity to use their network of cameras. Free ain't free.
Just wait until you find out that Xfinity could already monitor anyone walking through a home, when they use an Xfinity gateway. You'd be surprised the capabilities of a Wi-Fi signal.

Lamest promotion ever. Keeps on getting error message when trying to redeem and now camera is gone. Perhaps it's for the best.

Same situation, not seeing it (or anything). I've had a lot of problems with rewards showing up/disappearing, not showing up at all. Sometimes what I see in the app differs from what I see on my computer. Sometimes the app has more, sometimes it has less. Totally unpredictable.
I had issues using the app to claim rewards. I now access thru a saved link. Make sure any previous windows you opened are closed and log in after noon, not before.

Not even that page is updating for me, I have a feeling this wasn't supposed to drop yet.
There have been lots of errors of late...but i find the the offers are showing up as claimed in my account.

Not sure if this has anything to do with availability or not, but you may need to have their Xfinity router and their wifi "shield" activated. It showed up for me and I just activated the shield this morning
I dont have their router and they show up for me. The app is glitchy...I make sure any open Xfinity windows are closed in my browser and then I claim thru a saved link. It's still glitchy, but it works. Also, be sure to log in after noon.

I got the same notice 9/11 but my camera isn't expected to arrive until Wednesday. The email noted that this is Xfinity equipment, so I'm wondering for those that already received their camera, is it listed as one of the equipment items you need to return to Xfinity if you end your service?

Has anyone confirmed if there is a subscription and/or other fee to this if activated? Can you use free as a cheap camera? I want to just put it in my garage. Thanks.

It appears to be a camera just for Xfinity for live only without buying a subscription. There's no SD Card slot, you have to activate it via the XF App, the camera cord is a Cat5 that plugs into a wall power supply. I've not activated it yet, but it looks like if you want recording/cloud storage, it's 10/month. https://www.xfinity.com/learn/hom...es/cameras

I'd love to hear about someone activating it and not getting charged. I already have an old ArloQ camera I use that has free cloud recording. I do like that this one is outdoors, so could supplement some of my Ring Cameras I have.

True, when they started giving away their shitty streaming box for free, they sent me one it was very slow and glitchy so I stopped using it 2 years later they were charging me $150 because I didn't return it, was supposed to be free
If you check your bill, there is a line"Streaming TV Box Rental". Included

I set it up last night. It can detect motion/people. You can tap the notification to see the LiveView. The recording requires a subscription. You cant schedule it to turn on/off on a schedule and I dont see a way to turn off the camera if you dont want it to alert.

Appreciate the update. I will try it soon too. Just make sure you keep an eye on your bill next month to make sure they don't add any fees or taxes.
