That being said, you will probably find that you seldom use (or even carry) a key once you install one of these keypad/fingerprint locks. At least that has been our experience. We have found that the only purpose of the keys is to hide one outside in case the lock malfunctions or if the batteries have expired and need to be changed.

Option 1 - [Transfer core] you can DIY ( or locksmith ) to transfer the core to new lock if they are same size
Option 2 - [Pin transfer] older Schlage or "licensed" Schlage knockoff may have different size core: transfer the 5 pins from old to new lock core. Most locksmith has the tool and skill to do it.
Option 3 - [Re pin] better skilled locksmith can measure / read your key and re-pin your new lock to match your old key. Should be same or cheaper than option 2, as disassemble of old lock is not necessary. But ask for anti-lock pins (serrated, spool) - material cost less than a buck, I just do it without even ask my customer.
