This propane torch is best for fast outdoor fire starting, weed burning, and quick searing jobs. It lights charcoal, fire pits, fireplaces, bonfires, and cobwebs easily, and the one touch max fire mode delivers a huge flame with plenty of wow factor. That same power makes it too aggressive for delicate cooking like crème brûlée, and the torch needs a propane tank because it does not come with one. Reliability concerns also come up, including weak igniters, tricky ignition, leaks, and a few breakage reports.

Common Questions (5)

  • It has been used to start fireplaces, BBQs, charcoal, bonfires, and fire pits, and for weeds, cobwebs, and driveway weed removal. It is also handy for grilling tasks and other outdoor cleanup jobs.

  • Yes, but the max-fire setting is too intense for most cooking tasks. For light cooking, opening the gas valve with the top screw knob makes the flame more manageable; it has also been used for searing steaks, finishing sous vide, and torching crème brûlée, though the flame is very large.

  • The igniter can be unreliable or fail entirely, and some units need to be lit with a match or lighter instead. Ignition may also require slightly opening the top knob first so propane flows before using the trigger.

  • No, the camo version reportedly does not have the one-touch max fire feature. It is also mentioned as being cheaper than the silver version.

  • No tank is included, so you need to supply your own propane tank. The torch can still be used once attached, but it is not a complete starter kit.

Perfect for weeds, finishing off sous vide or applying sear, also good if you cook the bottom of diy pizza on cast iron and you need to cook the top

Wouldn't recommend this at any price. I ordered one of these on a deal a few months ago. It broke after only a handful of uses. The valve suddenly wouldn't close one day and we couldnt shut the torch off. Honestly pretty dangerous product.

That has been my fear of all these cheap-o torches, which is why I haven't bought one yet. I have a reliable Bernzomatic propane/MAP gas torch head for welding that I know is reliable and safe, as well as a Searzall attachment, but I have to remove one to use the other which is annoying, but still not annoying enough to want to buy a sketchy potentially unsafe fire hazzard product like this.

I'm looking to melt some rubber pellets when seal coat my driveway. I can probably put the pellets down first, then start the torch, then add more as needed... any idea how long one of those small propane containers will last, say on medium speed?
