The Hisense PX3 Pro is a bright triple laser ultra short throw projector that can deliver a big, TV like picture, especially with a proper ALR screen and even in daylight. Setup is the main strength and the main headache. Once aligned, it can look excellent and stay easy to nudge back into place, but placement has to be exact and may require custom furniture, heavy measuring, and repeated fine tuning. Warranty confidence is also a concern, with Woot coverage and Hisense support both questioned. A strong fit if you are ready for the installation work.

  • The PX3-Pro can deliver a bright movie experience once alignment is dialed in.

  • The projector can be used with a floor-rising UST ALR screen for TV-like viewing.

  • The grid alignment screen and painter's tape can help achieve square corners during setup.

  • A fixed-frame UST ALR screen can improve contrast and reduce ceiling bounce.

Not sure I understand the complaints on difficulty with screen placement.Put the projector where you want it to be, turn it on, and bring up the projectors grid alignment screen on your blank wall. Scale it out to the size that matches your screen. Identify the top and bottom of image, use diagonals to confirm all 4 corners are square and throw some painter's tape up where you want your image projection. Now that you have your corners, mount your screen. Done.I have a Viewsonic UST (x1000-4k) and it was super simple and much less difficult than mounting a TV. From there you can use the keystone and other adjustments for fine tuning. It just really is not that difficult. You will want an ALR screen designed for UST or it will looked washed out. We initially went with a cheap 130" Akai and it was ok since we have a completely light controlled room but the right fixed frame ALR UST screen was 10x better. No bouncing light on the ceiling, color contrast improved tenfold, etc.
Which ALR screen did you ultimately go with?

Plenty of brands (Sony [reddit.com], Hoover [reddit.com], Segway [reddit.com], etc.) do not honor warranties on woot products like they would if you bought from Amazon. If woot felt they were an authorized retailer, they'd list the manufacturers warranty on the listing like they do with Samsung products: https://electronics.woot.com/offe...-series-tv
worst case, you get 1 year added to the 90 days from your credit card extended warranty. (check the specific of your credit card)

I'm sure it's a great projector, but I feel like ultra short throws should have warnings about what a pain the ass they are to install. I had a short throw previously and then got this exact projector and returned it due to how finicky it is with placement. More power to you if you want to deal with that headache. I bought a standard throw projector and I'm very happy with the ease of install.

Regardless this is a good price for this particular projector. Just wanted to give others a heads up.

I'm worried I might be walking into the same trap - can you describe what made so particularly difficult? When I had a throw projector years ago it was annoying either having cables across the floor if it was between the couch and wall, or I had to install a sturdy shelf, have wires come down the wall, and consoles/media devices in a third location (projector one wall, screen the other, devices somewhere else).
You both have every right to be concerned! I bought the PX3-Pro late last year. WORST DECISION of my life! (Pic attached in case you're on mobile and it isn't showing up).

Let's start off with hisense. FIRST, I have 2 flagship LED hisense tv's that have marvelous pictures! I have another top of the line Hisense in my computer room. These are 2 x 55" and 1 x 65" tv's. Never had much of an issue with any of them. So when I started reading up on their PX3-Pro and all of the bells and whistles, well, I was instantly enthralled.

I bought it, bought a screen, and the nightmare began! Bought a screen (ALR, ambient light rejecting) from Nothing Projector. Screen was over $1k and the projector itself was $3xxx.xx (I forget exactly how much). So, in essence, A LOT of money wrapped up in just the visual.

The screen came with paltry instructions and I had to scour youtube and other sources to find screens 'similar' just so I could assemble the dang thing as the instructions were laughable. For reference, I am an IT engineer and unlicensed electrician, and I can also read blue prints and I built most of my house.

It took several weeks (not constantly working on it, but haphazardly spending some time, getting frustrated, and leaving it lie) but I did get it together. I bought a 100" screen. The screens are very sensitive to oils from your hands and if you handle it you MUST wear CLEAN cotton gloves. I keep an air purifier running full blast (shark, never-change filter model) just a few feet away to keep dust minimized.

So if you decide on a projector, you will ultimately have to get a screen.

NOw comes the REAL nightmare. I bought the projector from best buy.
I watched videos, read the manual, and did a lot of research on UST projectors while waiting for it to arrive. When it did arrive I realized pretty quick my existing living room setup wasn't going to work. So I had to get rid of my fireplace/media shelf, wall media shelving. The manual dictates the height, distance from the wall/screen the projector needs to be (in my instance, for 100" screen).

So, being a carpenter, it wasn't much trouble to calculate what I needed and how I was going to do it. I first sought out furniture that would keep my height requirements under control. I found some stuff from Ikea. Then, I built a platform for everything to set on. I used 2x4 construction, 7/16 OSB for the top and then I cut some Pergo laminate flooring for the top. Later, I went back and added some black trim all the way around (except along the wall).

All of that combined, along with resting a 1/8" thick cabinet mat (typically for your dishes or glassware), with 3/8 furniture slides and I was spot on where the manual said I needed to be. Well, fast forward several MONTHS, I still could not get the projector aligned up %100. I don't even think I was %80. I tried moving it closer and then away from the wall, up, down, tilted the front up, tilted the back up, ... I took away the center channel and held it myself and had a friend sit back and direct me.. still could not get it aligned! The manual (and online vidoes) said there was an alignment keystone... but my projector didn't have it (at least, I couldn't figure out how to get to it). I thought my projector was defective. So for one last 'hurrah', i went into a local Best Buy, told them I was having issues, and they were like "oh, we got a guy who has installed hundreds of projectors and screens. He can get you all set." I was like, "EXCELLENT! When and how much?" He was booked 2 weeks out and I think it was just a standard $125 fee. SOLD!
Guy came out, had 2 other people with him. This is the guy that Best Buy recommends and is an official vendor for them. A 4th guy shows up about an hour later. They were all nice people, clearly they were all aficionado's of movies and high end gear.
THREE HOURS LATER, the master guy could not get me aligned. He tried every which way from Sunday.

They all apologized and basically left me in the same place I had been stalled at for months.

My next attempt was Hisense. Maybe I DID have a bad unit? I called hisense 5 separate times. When you call them for warranty or tech support, they take your name/number and then they say an 'engineer will call you back within 24 hours'. OH BOY!!!

After my first and initial call, the 'engineer' called me back over 3 days later! I was not expecting a call so I missed it. When I checked the voicemail later that day, i realized i had missed them. So I called them back... SAME PROCESS ALL OVER AGAIN. THey STILL wanted to go through all the asinine trouble shooting steps, make me unplug it, reset it, etc... even though I TOLD THEM I had a case number, I did all this just 4 days ago! They said it didn't matter. Same scenario, after troubleshooting, 'a L2 engineer will call you back within 24 hours'. This time it was only 2 days before a call back. I was taking out the trash and when I came back in, I saw I had a missed call. .. recognized the call back number. IMMEDIATELY called them back (literally less than 10 minutes later)... it doesn't matter. Had to go through the ENTIRE PROCESS again.... The 3rd time, NEVER HAD an Engineer call me back. 4th time, they called at 8pm a few days later. 5th time, I don't remember a call back.

SO, having a warranty from hisense and getting them to HONOR IT, are 2 very different things! Hell, even getting in touch with someone who you hope can help you is extremely difficult!

I will NEVER EVER buy anything hisense ever again, I will NEVER EVER buy an UST projector ever again....

With all that being said, I DID manage to get the damn thing MOSTLY aligned; I'd say about %96-97 aligned... which I can live with. I have not tweaked anything or changed any settings. It is a beautiful and bright picture but absolutely NOT WORTH the hassle, the money, frustration, rearranging of furniture, purchasing new furniture, etc... NOPE!

The picture shows my setup in the initial stages, the platform I built ( I did build a smaller replica that sat on top of the center channel but that ended up being part of my original problem... the manual said I needed to be at a specific height but I was never able to get it lined up at that height (neither was that master installer from Best Buy)... so I took that away and just used furniture sliders.

The downside is that if I bump or knock something, that will throw off the projector. But it is easier to get to to realign since all I have to do is just grab the feet and re-position it.

** in the second pic, on the left, you can see the mini platform I built that ended up being just a bit too high (in overall height)... just holding up my cabinet, lol.

** EDIT **
and unless you know-it-alls HAVE this specific projector and have fought with it... don't assume all UST projectors are the same because, according to the master installer Best Buy sent, THEY ARE DEFINITELY NOT! Searching for that hisense PX3-Pro UST for problems or complaints and you will receive HUNDREDS of posts across various forums, platforms, in comments, of many people having THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM I had experienced.
