This ThinkCentre M75Q G2 Micro stands out as a compact, enterprise-grade Ryzen 5 PRO box that fits home lab, light server, and everyday desktop use. The AMD Pro chip adds DASH out of band management for remote power, BIOS access, and reimaging, and the platform is described as having strong driver support and solid long term reliability. It also has two dual channel SODIMM slots and can take up to 64GB DDR4 3200, with ECC support suggested. The main limits are that it is not meant for gaming or AI workloads, and 16GB may feel tight for heavier lab setups. A practical small form factor pick with useful remote management.

Common Questions (4)

  • Yes, the AMD Pro CPU supports DASH out-of-band management, which can provide remote power control, BIOS access, and reimaging without physical access. That is especially useful if the machine sits in a closet, basement, or other hard-to-reach spot.

  • Yes, the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650GE and ThinkCentre Tiny platform are well suited to low-hassle homelab use, shared browsing, and light server duty. The system is also described as a strong value versus newer small-form-factor PCs, especially when DDR4-based systems are still viable.

  • It has two dual-channel-capable SODIMM slots and can support up to 64GB of DDR4-3200. That makes the 16GB config easy to upgrade later if you need more memory for a lab or heavier multitasking.

  • For many users, yes: 16GB can handle heavy browser use, including 30+ Brave tabs plus several Firefox tabs, while staying around 11-12GB used. Chrome is the bigger memory hog, so browser choice matters.

Two reasons.
First extra PCs generate heat and noise, maybe they're in a closet, maybe they're in the basement?
Second even if they're on your desk, with the out of band management you don't have to have a separate keyboard monitor mouse or a KVM switch you just need a network cable and an IP address that you console into from your main system.
I keep a keyboard laying around just for this kind of rare bios update and stuff.

You can SSH into a homelab server without out-of-band management. OOB is for some rather esoteric and rarely used features.

Some of the replies hahaha 🤣.
Okay, lemme break this down for some of ya.
  1. This thing is "used"
  2. This has a 6 year old DINOSAUR chip.
  3. Yes 6 years old, is old folks.
  4. Only 16 gigs of old, slow, RAM to match the old, slow, processor.
  5. Only 256 gigs of old, slow, "used" storage.
Find something better some have said... Okay.
In almost every way this is better: https://www.newegg.com/nipogi-15-...74MM1U2091

Not only do you get more storage and a faster processor, but you also get decent "graphics" and a mouse and a keyboard, and a monitor and a battery! This Lenovo brick can do nothing but sit on a desk and run at the speed of smell. The laptop I linked to can do so much more, anywhere!!! And it's "NEW". Yes it's a couple dollars more, but it's a whole lot more PC then this Lenovo brick.

Then some are talking about build quality 🤣🤣🤣...... Folks, it's just a box, it does nothing but sit and collect dust. It does not have 4 wheel drive, you don't go off-roading with it! C'mon, quality 🙄! It's just a box. You're paying for the name and what's inside, and in this case (pun intended) you're paying too much!

Arrright, somebody gotta explain this to me, like I'm 5 years old since clearly I'm missing something here! 69 up votes, for not just a dinosaur chip, but a "refurbished" system meaning 'used'. It barely has enough RAM or storage to breath and yet for some reason you all love it ? Please.... Explain yourselves! I'll take a shot in the dark here and say it's probably all AI bots playing with all thumbs, just to see if they can do it. Otherwise, there is no world in any universe or multi-verse where this beats modern offerings for similar numbers!
agreed. I need a steeper discount for this old and refurbished

If you need RAM you can get it? Right,.. All it costs is money. Lots of it.
Did a single search and found a set for $100: https://ebay.io/m/f1o13S . I mean... It's more than it used to be, but it's quite manageable, not "lots of money".
