The Jamo S 803 pair comes across as a compact bookshelf speaker set that delivers strong value for computer or home audio use. Long-term use with a Fosi Audio TB10D amp has been great, and the speakers are described as sounding great while looking very similar to Klipsch models. The cabinet material debate centers on MDF, which is presented as a sensible speaker cabinet choice because it is stable and helps reduce vibration, with veneer used for the finish. The main caveat is that the build and finish are not solid wood, so appearance and materials matter more than the price tag suggests.

  • The cabinet construction can use MDF with a thin veneer finish, which can help reduce audible cabinet vibration.

  • The speakers can offer good value if their appearance matches a Klipsch set the buyer already owns.

  • The Jamo S 803 bookshelf speakers can work well as computer speakers when paired with a Fosi Audio TB10D amp.

  • The Jamo S 803 can be a better choice than a Klipsch KD-51M when Dolby Atmos connections and mounts matter.

  • The MDF quality claim is disputed, with skepticism about describing MDF as "quality" without negative modifiers.

  • The exterior build is described as MDF with a thin veneer rather than solid wood, which may not match expectations for "real wood" cabinets.

  • Skepticism exists about using MDF exterior panels at higher price points, since some doubt that very expensive speakers use MDF exteriors.

  • The speakers' look similarity to Klipsch is questioned as a basis for value, since the comparison is framed as "look like" rather than confirmed specs.

"Quality" and "MDF" should never be used in the same sentence.....unless "crappy" or like adjectives have been added as a modifier.
In today's world are there any speakers which are not made of MDF?

That is simply not true. MDF is not particle board which is what you might be thinking of.MDF is good for a lot of things. It is dimensionally stable and easy to work with. Glues up nice and takes veneers well.I have made quite a few pieces of furniture using it in some places. For a speaker cabinet, it is a good choice. You then use veneers to get the look you want.

True. I have wooden teeth veneers. They are pretty durable for eating moist vegetables.

MDF is not used in cabinets because it is cheap, but because it's density keeps the cabinets from audibly vibrating. MDF is even used in speakers that cost thousands of dollars.

Fun fact: I bought a sealed MIB Super Powers Batmobile from him a decade ago so he could take his kid to Disney. Pretty sure this was before he started his channel.

No what I am saying is that I have the identical Klipsch version of these speakers and they sound great and are a good value.
