Pure Protein bars are a filling, high protein snack with a chewy, dense texture and a chocolate variety that leans more candy bar than clean protein bar. Peanut butter and chewy chocolate chip get the strongest flavor notes, while plain chocolate and Chocolate Deluxe draw complaints about sweetener aftertaste or being the weakest flavors. The bars can arrive discolored, and the maltitol sweetener is tied to a very strong digestive warning in the comments. Costco pricing and coupons also come up as better alternatives, making this a practical pick mainly for those who like the texture and flavors.

  • People replacing a candy bar with extra protein, because the bars taste candy-like while still being treated as a protein snack.

  • Protein-bar eaters who want a filling snack, because one bar can leave them feeling built and satisfied.

  • Shoppers who like chewy, dense bars, because the texture is described as brutally chewy and dense.

  • Chocolate-and-peanut-butter snackers who prefer sweeter flavors, because peanut butter ranks best while chocolate chip is decent.

  • People with sensitive stomachs, because the maltitol can cause bloating, gas, and digestive upset.

  • Shoppers who dislike sweetener aftertaste, because the Chocolate Deluxe flavor leaves a noticeable aftertaste.

  • Buyers expecting every chocolate bar to arrive looking normal, because some bars arrived discolored.

  • People who want a light, easy-to-chew bar, because these are brutally chewy and dense.

Good price, but these are brutally chewy and dense compares to Barebells and Clif Builders bars.
They can be really chewy. I will eat one of these with a handful of roasted almonds. The crunch of the almonds helps balance out the chewiness.

Contains Maltitol. Definitely can tear up your bowels if you're not careful.
People have problems with MODERATION. The same issue occurs with seed oils. People eat more than they should because they are intended to taste good, and then they complain about digestive problems. I never eat more than 1 of any protein bar per day, and I never have problems--and I also have ulcerative colitis. They are fine to eat for anyone who has common sense about food intake. Just don't replace all of your meals in a day with protein bars, and you'll be fine.

I've loved almost all of the Pure Protein bars I've tried. They've been part of my weight loss journey. The only ones that I could not stand with Zig Zag Cake. Quite nasty.
Zig Zag Cake tastes like what it's supposed to taste like. Zig Zag/Zebra Cakes are just prepackaged lemon squares with cream and white chocolate, you can find them at stores and gas stations. People don't know what the flavor is and still buy them, then are surprised that they don't taste good. But for those of us who have had Zebra Cakes, the flavor is very accurate.

While I enjoy these, they do give me diabolical gas. I have made the mistake of letting a toot loose in the car before entering my office building, then coming back to something evil that seemed to gain more potency and sentience with time. It incubated into something powerful enough to tear a hole through the ozone layer. We are livestock in its wake.

These are great. I am going to get a lot of boxes at Costco (SALE EXPIRES TOMORROW - 8/23). The Chewy Chocolate Chip and PB are really good. The Chocolate Deluxe has a sweetener aftertaste, but it's tolerable.Costco has LIMIT 10.I don't know if that's per transaction or per member or per household.
You bought $200 worth of protein bars?!

As a very sensitive person when it comes to protein products (cant drink milk protein hence i cant make use of 90% the protein products in the market) these ones are safe for me and the flavor are actually kinda good compared to others so glad i found them out.
