A couple things to remember is don't let it get full because they're less effective as they fill up and you'll let more through to your vac.
And don't block the hose. It needs air flow to work so if you're doing a lot of pressing the vac nozzle down to carpet or something where it's momentarily blocked, it will allow more particles through.
