At $1,200, I'd rate it ~9/10 value
What you're getting
- Neck-through 5-string
- 35–37" multiscale, which should give you an exceptionally solid B
- 5-piece maple/walnut neck
- Stainless-steel frets
- Passive T1 humbuckers + active 3-band EQ
- Selectable mid frequencies
- MR5HS bridge
- Excellent upper-fret access
- Hard case
The biggest reason I'd favor it at $1,200 is that you're getting into genuinely high-end construction/features without paying boutique prices.The caveats
Weight is probably the biggest one. These can approach 10–11 lb.
37" B string is also a matter of preference. It gives you an excellent low B, but the instrument feels noticeably different from a conventional 34" 5-string.
And tonally it's pretty unapologetically modern. If you're looking for StingRay-like punch, vintage P-bass character, or something relatively organic and simple, there are better choices.
But if your goal is a really good 5-string with an exceptional low B and modern versatility, $1,200 new is hard to criticize.
