I recognize times have changed, but this is the same cost new for sales of the 64GB RAM model last year.

37% tariff on Chinese imports may be why.

Ram shortages because of Ai it doubled the prices, also Asus is Taiwanese not Chinese. EVERYTHING is made in Taiwan.

Just get the 64 gb version at Best Buy for a few hundred more. This thing packs a punch, but Windows will find any excuse to chew up 32 gb of ram.

ASUS itself says its main notebook product assembly plant is in Chongqing, Mainland China. Its supplier disclosure also lists multiple Chinese factories as final-assembly facilities.
The 2025 Flow Z13 was announced by ASUS in January 2025.
So, in practical terms:
ASUS ROG Flow Z13 (2025) → Made/assembled in China, even though ASUS is a Taiwanese company.

... and also the AI thing. I don't know which impacts more on the final price, but it's a lot.

Agree. The 64gb version at BB also has the AI MAX 395+ cpu and integrated graphics. It's in a totally different league. $1700 is already a lot of money and at that price point paying a few hundred more for double the ram and more importantly substantially better chip is the way to go.

200 more dollars and it's the price of the 64 GB model on sale two months ago. This is just a very weak deal, even for modern times. With that being said, even at this price this is still worth it. This machine is a beast.

Ram and flash prices have gone up 4-5x on demand from ai data centers alone. That's the primary driver

Can you tell me which model specifically you are referring to at BB?Looking for a new laptop. Not into gaming. But I do keep laptops for 5-10 years. So I do overbuild/buy when I purchase. Really just want fastest machine I can get and reliability. https://www.bestbuy.com/product/a...LHG8X9This one?

This isn't a laptop -- it's a tablet with a keyboard. I do like ASUS but I don't think there is any scenario where this model will last 5-10 years. If you don't game, don't buy a gaming PC. It's just extra heat and power consumption which shortens lifespan. You don't say what you do with it, so details might be helpful you if you want advice.

You can literally type in "ROG Flow Z13" on the Best Buy site and it's the first model that comes up. Really...

I searched Slickdeals and don't see a new 64GB version of this for less that $2000 last year. Everything is open box.
