A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

Is that the case in the UK? I dunno is why I ask. I agree they could have done more and didn't but not sure how it works over there.
Over there I believe they call it being "sectioned." Don't know what the process is but it sounds quite similar to what we have here.

She went into rehab several times, and IIRC a judge sent her to rehab some of those times. But you have to want to get clean or it won't work.
It's not sending them off to rehab. You can gain conservatorship over someone's finances or medical treatment. Judges usually don't grant someone complete control. It doesn't have to be a family member. So in Joan Kennedy's case, her kids still have control over everything. They had her on a budget and with a caregiver but her alcoholism was so bad she would try to get around things by downing mouthwash and things like vanilla extract. They realized she wasn't baking cookies and intervened again.

Amy Winehouse's parents could've done the same. Like what Amanda Bynes' parents did. You take the money for the drugs away, get them away from bad influences, and commit them to treatment involuntarily until it's under control. Heroin users don't have a high success rate no matter what - rehab is of little use to them. Rapid detox with commitment may have been a better choice for Amy.

Where you and I live a person can be committed for up to 1 year with checkpoints along the way. EEK! Even Amy's doctor knew she was drinking again - she saw her within 24 hours of her death - and the doctor prescribed a sedative anyway. Mad

Edge of Tomorrow is based on the book All You Need is Kill, a Japanese short novel. Check it out if you liked the movie. It's subtly different and you can read it in a night. Highly recommend.
Ah, thank you! I added it to my Amazon wishlist. Smilie

Black Sea - Gut wrenching. The blatant stupidity of the characters ruins it. Would have been better as a horror film perhaps. Not enough plot. If you're desperate for a 3 star movie then it'll do.

I heard there were too many holes in the plot. Wink

As for me, I watched Star Wars: A New Hope (1977), Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), and Point Break (1991).

Room (2015). In limited theaters at the moment.

A five-year-old raised in an enclosed room sees the world for the first time.

Probably the most captivating movie I've seen in a while.

I need to get on that. At this rate it will be on Netflix by the time I get around to it, so that will make it easier.

I saw it on cable (Showtime? Cinemax? HBO? I forget).

Just popped that into my queue. I'll keep my hopes down.

Ride - Helen Hunt made the never good decision to write, produce, direct, and star in a film. She's a surfer but she doesn't get the community and what it's all about or she never would've written such a turd of a film. Over-protective publisher mom has trouble letting go of her son and letting him go off to college or live his life. She follows him out to Cali and learns to surf. In fact too much of the film is just her learning to surf and getting lessons. I don't care for her and really question the choice of how peeing on someone's foot (jellyfish type a thing) can turn into a romantic encounter. Wtf? Confused

The best, most accurate review for Kingsmen in my opinion:
