I changed all of my Nest/Google cams to Tapo and could not be happier. No subscription and recording to microSD cards. I'm sorry you've had bad experiences.

In 4 one. - I have been using Proxmox/Scrypted to turn these into Apple HKSV cameras with AI and recording etc. I am already paying for iCloud. The $3 plan covers 5 camera recording streams. I wonder if this will count as one camera or two once converted.

I've been able to buy several of these C246d cameras on the Tapo store on TikTok shop. I bought one two pack for $80, later another two pack for $80, a single for $35, and later another single for $36.

They have coupons on there regularly. Sometimes there isn't much discount but often there are significant discounts.

I would assume each camera would be considered two. They have separate streams.

The only complaint I have with Tapo is that it requires a subscription for rich notifications. Other than that, all great.

All my Tapo cams are essentially bricks now after just a year. One is always off-line, even after manually resetting it. Neither of them can be viewed remotely nor even over the Wi-Fi network, despite being right next to the router. I haven't had any of these issues with my 10 year-old wise cams. and their customer service is a joke.

Yeah I'm running my tapo camera fully offline through home assistant and they are rock solid. Might not be applicable for all models
