I'd rather take a chance on this versus taking a chance on AliE.

The 1000v2 is another $50 adds more load capacity (400w) Bluetooth and wifi monitoring faster charging, faster ups cutover. I'm a data guy the remote monitor seems like a nice addition. However based on the main specs they are similar. Just adding a comment to the post.

What makes this a better deal than getting v2 for a tad more, new model and more outlets . odd it says v2 is a lower base price? why can't I trust sales anymore

No direct DC port is a hard pass. If you need to use it for CPAP, you will loos 30W/h using the internal inverter and the inverter on the CPAP power plug alone. Same with other devices; run straight DC when you can.

I would rather have the v1 because an extra 4-5 lbs matters to me more than the stuff you listed, but I think that is the only "negative" otherwise the v2 is def. worth the 50.

I'm the opposite. I don't want wi-fi or an app. I want to be sure there is absolutely positively no backdoor or remote 'hackability' into a power station.

Anybody have any experience using these with solar panels? Thoughts and input appreciated.

you can get a dongle that outputs 12v 10a max without turning on the inverter.
