Samsung's 32 inch Odyssey G80SH stands out as a big 4K OLED gaming monitor that also works well for text and split screen work. The larger size feels more comfortable than 27 inch 4K for readability and multitasking, and the panel gets praise for strong color, deep blacks, and high refresh performance. The 98 watt USB C power delivery is a useful bonus for laptop charging. Main drawbacks are the very aggressive matte coating, weak or absent built in speakers and smart features, and some reports of Samsung support and return hassles.

Common Questions (4)

  • 32-inch 4K gives more comfortable text readability and more usable space for split-screen multitasking, especially over long sessions. 27-inch 4K can still work well for office and programming use, but many people end up using scaling and may prefer 32-inch if they want easier reading at a similar viewing distance.

  • No built-in speakers, remote, or smart TV features are included on this model, so it functions as a pure monitor. Audio needs to come from external speakers, headphones, or your PC/laptop connections.

  • It has a matte coating, not a glossy finish. The coating is described as very aggressive and can be noticeable on brighter colors or when sitting close, so it's best for shoppers who are fine with matte OLED screens.

  • Yes, it includes 98W USB-C power delivery, which can charge a laptop while using the monitor. That makes it useful as a single-cable desk setup for work and light gaming.

So I bought this and on the second day, monitor won't turn on when I turn PC on. Hard reset PC a few times and nothing. Unplugged monitor and replug it and it works again.

Contact Samsung online to return item and they refused

Gave me phone number to call for technical support and the technical support people would be doing the return. Call the number and waited half an hour.

Samsung customer service is a shitshow if there is a problem.

I'm inclined to believe you don't do a lot of work involving text. 4k without scaling at 27'' is tiny for even young users. You either have the monitor way too close to your face or you're using scaling at 150% without realizing. 4k @ 27'' is a waste unless you just enjoy small display with high pixel density for gaming. For text, most folks will actually notice less clarity despite higher density due to scaling, and you'll essentially downgrade to a funky looking QHD with a 4k panel.
Scaling is fine.

Because it doesn't have speakers. Only the old model does, G80SD.
ya i just got this monitor today to a bit of disappointment. Old model includes smart tv, remote, and speaker, so its a smart monitor. However, this does not include a speaker, remote or smart features. This thing is a pure monitor compared to last gen.

How's the matte coating? It being just a monitor and not a smart monitor is what a wanted so a non issue.

It's my first OLED, I was using 200 dollar IPS monitor for 10 years, so I am no expert. It is matte and not glossy; that's all I can really comment on since I don't know the quality of the matte coating lol

Don't call them, keep going with "online support."

Escalate it and tell them it's defective and you will issue a chargeback because it's defective. Ask specifically for a return label to be sent. Do it quickly. 2 days is within their return window. Take snapshots of your order details, it should say it is returnable on that page.

Man, I can't wait for this 32 inch size 4k OLED monitors to come down in price. Then we will truly have endgame-tier monitors for cheap. Current crop is 27 inchers from AOC or other lesser-known brands around $250, and you save a lot and get virtually the same image quality. Unfortunately, there is an even bigger difference in scale between 32 and 27, than there is when jumping from 24 to 27, and once you go big, you can't go back...
