I have had this keyboard for a couple of years and am very happy with it. The only thing missing is the numpad. While 8BitDo does make a matching numpad, they unfortunately missed the mark on that accessory. For some reason, they added a built in calculator function to the numpad, and moved the standard buttons around to make room for a Clear and Backspace key. Now every time I try to type a dash I get backspace instead.
So:
Keyboard = Great as is but would be better with a numpad.
Numpad Accessory (Not part of this deal) = Avoid unless you happen to need a very bulky pocket calculator that happens to double as a numpad.

When someone makes a retro themed product and some rando looks at it and says "How old is this crap anyway?" then you know they nailed it.

I suspect it's the exact same keyboard as the one I have, I have the clear green Xbox version made by the same company, and it's really clicky and has backlit LEDs. I just have them turn on with keypress rather than always being illuminated. Any how, works great wirelessly, works great when plugged in, it feels premium and has a good weight to it. I often game with it in my lap paired with the same branded wireless mouse. For $51, it's a great deal. This is coming from someone that's been using keyboards since the 80s, believe me when I say, it gives that old school mechanical feeling.

I like the Kailh Box Whites on this kb (I have the Famicom version), just not a fan of the spacebar being louder with a deeper noise and am not sure how to modify it so that it sounds like all the other keys

All jokes aside, I'm using this keyboard as my daily WFH driver (I do a LOT of typing) and have it paired with the matching number pad. And because I'm a total dork I have the mouse, too. Love the set to death and I'm very picky about mice and keyboards. My only complaint is that the keyboard and the number pad have to use separate USB adapters.

Hard disagree. I've owned a lot of mechanical keyboards and I'm quite a fan of this one. No, this is not a $300 Glorious, but it's a fine keyboard if you don't care about RGB or a lot of bells and whistles. Very solid construction, great battery life, excellent action with the Kailh white switches it comes (but also hot swappable. I like it enough for me to use it as my daily driver for work-from-home. Moved it from my home desktop to my work one because it just sounds like it's all business even though it looks like (80s) fun.

I have this keyboard. They keys are louder than your normal Dell "chicklet" keyboard, but they are by no means a LOUD clicky keyboard. This keyboard has tactile keys vs clicky. It's kind of the happy medium. I paid double this price and I don't regret it one bit.

See I think we disagree on construction. Specifically the case, which is embarrassingly cheap and flimsy for what is normally a $100+ product. What exactly does "very solid construction" mean to you?I'm not sure why you're citing "$300 glorious" keyboards because PLENTY of $30~40 kbs are substantially more... substantial.I do like the box whites as a clicky option (jades are prob my fave), but due to the incredibly cheap case, the sound turns abrasive. But if you like it, you do you.I have three of these, with the c64 being my fave due to the SA-ish cap profile. They're all decorations now.

I won't disagree on the MSRP being a bit steep but for $50 I think it's quite well-made. Compared to other $30-$50 keyboards I've used, this has no flex to it. if you have found a $30-$40 keyboard that is more substantial to this, I'd love to know what it is because I have surely missed out on the several mechanical keyboards I had in that price range and even above. Sure, the plastic on the 8bitdo might creak a little if you try to twist it but it doesn't bend. I don't find it abrasive whatsoever, but like you said, you do you.

I'm seeing on the thread that this is a divisive product, so it may just come down to taste.

Although it is odd that you bought three of them if you dislike them so much. I guess you have a lot of decorative keyboard space?
