If you have not used a throttle before, go easy at first & practice braking while turning the throttle off. When the throttle is wide open (wrist/hand twisted) & you brake at the same time it does not slow down quickly because you still have the throttle wide open. You should practice mastering the close the throttle while applying the brake, especially for emergency stops.
