Spyderco's lightweight Value Folder line stands out as an affordable way to get S35VN steel and Spyderco's smooth action, with the knives feeling surprisingly refined for the price. The deal also drew attention for free shipping with code AC-SHIP, which made the total much more attractive than the earlier shipping quotes. The main caveats are that some blades are marked China, the pocket clip is not deep carry, and pricing can be close to Amazon or even higher once shipping is added. A practical beater knife option if the total lands right.
Knife carriers who want a smooth-opening EDC folder, because the action is amazingly smooth to deploy and retract.
Spyderco shipping was reported as $9 under $150 in one case and $13 in another, which can erase much of the savings versus Amazon. A free-shipping code, AC-SHIP, was later posted and changes the total cost significantly.
Yes. Some blades are engraved with "China," and the lower price is tied to that origin; otherwise these knives would reportedly cost $50-$100 more. They're positioned as affordable beaters you can carry without worrying about losing them.
Yes, this deal is for S35VN/S35V steel versions, which are considered a step up from the typical Chinese steel on cheaper folders. The steel is a major reason the knife is viewed as a strong value at around $50-$60.
Sezzle appears on the payment page and was used successfully to buy multiple knives, including a reported $75 shipped order for two S35VN knives. One post also mentioned a $50 sign-up discount tied to Sezzle.
No deep-carry clip is included on this model, but aftermarket deep-carry clips are available for Spyderco knives. That makes the carry setup easy to modify if the stock clip is a dealbreaker.
I was spoiled by the $48 Paramilitary2 from JCP back in June 2017.
I don't even know what a good Spyderco is supposed to cost.
That deal started my Spyderco journey, still hard to believe they shipped for that price, the action on the knife is amazingly smooth to deploy and retract. Spyderco has a store in Golden Co that has an outlet and tours if you are ever out that way. https://spyderco.com/
With $13 shipping it's $68+tax for the Resilience (I live in Denver and would be happy to go pick it up in Golden), it's more expensive than the same knife sold on Amazon ($65.60+tax right now)... Pass.
I bought several fake Spyderco's a year or so ago from a post here.I picked up a Resilience earlier this year from AAFES for $104, no tax, free shipping for all Veterans. I carry it always including now.
I picked up another one today. Regret not buying two with the $13.00 shipping.Thank you for this post.
1) I first saw the post and was like, "nah" as I fidget flicked one of my EDC Benchmade Mini Bugout >> 2) Then advanced to trying to see total cost that included $13 shipping "Nah" >> 3) Now with the free shipping code, I'm suddenly realizing as much as I like my Bugouts (grivory and carbon fiber), I don't want to beat on them too badly. >> 4) Then I went to my knife drawer to see if I had anything the Spyderco's were too similar to (nope - lots of OTF and switchblades, various stainless steel kershaw ken onions that would work but I like them too much - and no other beaters) >> 5) deciding if the Resilience for the novelty of its massive size, but annoying combo blade or the Persistence PlainEdge with its EDC-ness would be appropriate >> 6) Now contemplating if I want to deal with the 'wifey eye roll' if I press "complete order' (she did buy those unnecessarily nice down pillows yesterday)

ALL of this family have "China" on the blade, because otherwise you'd pay $50-$100 more for each of them. These are great for "need a good knife I can afford to lose."

Knife carriers who want a smooth-opening EDC folder, because the action is amazingly smooth to deploy and retract.
Buyers comparing steel upgrades, because the S35VN version offers better steel than typical entry-level blades at this price.
People who want a hard-use knife they can misplace, because the China-made blades cost far less than comparable alternatives.
Shoppers expecting the listed price to beat Amazon, because shipping can erase the savings and make it more expensive.
Buyers who want a premium domestic blade, because some blades are engraved China and the family is made overseas.
Pocket-clip picky carriers, because this folder lacks a deep-carry clip.
