that said, they are very inexpensive and stack very sturdily so even given the issues they are my go-to value bin

IRIS 12.9 quart buckle up bins are a low cost, stackable storage option that works well for closets, workshops, and general organizing. The size gets praise for holding clothes, hardware, and other mixed items, and the clear design makes contents easy to see. The main drawback is durability, with reports of latches, handles, lids, and even the plastic itself cracking or shattering, especially when stacked, pulled, or exposed to garage and basement temperature swings. They are not airtight, but the price and size still make them a practical everyday bin.
The blue-lid option at the deal price can be a no-brainer for shoppers seeking low-cost storage bins.
The handles can pop off but can be popped back on easily for continued use.
The bins can be used for workshop organization of bolts, nuts, and screws while staying easy to organize.
The bins can hold light and some heavy items without breaking when handles are reattached after popping off.
The bins are not airtight containers, so they do not seal contents from air.
The clear-lid with grey-latch variant can be fragile, with latches, lids, or boxes cracking or breaking easily.
Stacking and pulling bins can catch latches and open bins or drag lids off, which can lead to damage over time.
Blue lids may no longer be available, and clear lids can be full price, making the deal no longer valid.

None were damaged but I did have the problem that I've had before with these bought from the store where the handles have fallen off a bunch of them.
The cause is that the hole in the base where the handles attach aren't punched out correctly, its an easy fix to pop out the extra piece of plastic to fix the hole, just a pain to have to do it.
At $1.67 per bin its still a great deal
