The all metal casing of the G5 is thinner and slightly shorter than the plastic body of the HD04. The G5's form factor makes it easy to slide into a pocket or tight space in a carry bag. The HD04 clip makes it bulkier but I like having the clip so it's a reasonable trade-off. The lighting capabilities of the HD04 are more robust. I have the black version of the HD04 and I must say it looks pretty dope when glowed up.

Wuben has a similar light with brightness dial, metal construction and way better clip. Get that instead. My favorite hat light.
