This X25 Special Edition Xbox controller is drawing attention as a limited edition pad with a Halo like look, clear top plate styling, and the familiar Xbox advantage of user replaceable AA batteries. The design gets praise for its shelf appeal and for nods to the original black and white buttons, while the battery setup is seen as more practical than built in packs. The biggest knock is the lack of haptics, and the standard potentiometer sticks raise stick drift concerns. That makes it feel more like a collectible with practical battery convenience than a feature packed upgrade.

  • The controller supports user-replaceable batteries, which can keep gaming going without waiting for charging.

  • The design includes black-and-white bumper styling that pays homage to earlier Xbox button aesthetics.

  • The controller can be used with rechargeable AA batteries, which may reduce ongoing battery costs.

  • The controller's joysticks may be swapped to TMR, which can improve analog performance for users willing to mod.

  • Stick drift can occur within about a year on Xbox controllers, and this risk makes the $80 price feel unjustified.

  • The controller lacks haptics, which can be a deal-breaker for buyers who want that feature.

  • Some buyers report repeated stick-drift failures across many Xbox controllers, which pushes them toward switching platforms.

  • The bumper and logo design details can look messy or ugly, which may reduce appeal for collectors.

Unless it has special features, there's no reason to pay more. As a collectors item, it will take years and probably won't increase drastically in value. I like the nod to the Halo-ish design but no haptics is a no go for me.

Eye of the beholder and all that BS but the really messed up an easy home-run. Black and white bumpers and the ugly large logo.

No thanks, I can get a GameSir G7 pro controller with TMR Sticks, Hall Effect analog triggers and mechanical face buttons that's 10x better than this for the same price.

Technically ~2020 when they shifted the dpad, usb-c, mic port built in

But I have really bad luck with these barely 1 year till they drift. They really should have put Hall effect at minimum in this

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. fark Microsoft and Sony for making their joysticks with potentiometers when they could make them with TMR or Hall effect for pennies more. But the shitty model we live in values planned obsolescence because of the repeated revenue.
