This X25 Special Edition Xbox controller is drawing attention as a limited edition pad with a Halo like look, clear top plate styling, and the familiar Xbox advantage of user replaceable AA batteries. The design gets praise for its shelf appeal and for nods to the original black and white buttons, while the battery setup is seen as more practical than built in packs. The biggest knock is the lack of haptics, and the standard potentiometer sticks raise stick drift concerns. That makes it feel more like a collectible with practical battery convenience than a feature packed upgrade.
The controller supports user-replaceable batteries, which can keep gaming going without waiting for charging.
The design includes black-and-white bumper styling that pays homage to earlier Xbox button aesthetics.
The controller can be used with rechargeable AA batteries, which may reduce ongoing battery costs.
The controller's joysticks may be swapped to TMR, which can improve analog performance for users willing to mod.
Stick drift can occur within about a year on Xbox controllers, and this risk makes the $80 price feel unjustified.
The controller lacks haptics, which can be a deal-breaker for buyers who want that feature.
Some buyers report repeated stick-drift failures across many Xbox controllers, which pushes them toward switching platforms.
The bumper and logo design details can look messy or ugly, which may reduce appeal for collectors.

Yep, exactly. I'd rather rotate in eneloop pros over some cheap rechargeable battery pack any day.
