I registered for costco membership and their credit card. Both emails with the shop card information went to my spam folder while all other useless ads emails were fine.

Don't forget to turn off auto renewal so they don't automatically renew your membership next year unless that's what you want. It's set up to auto renewal by default.

Also, you might want to check if there is a current AMEX offer for Groupon. About a month ago I took advantage of a new Costco membership. AMEX was giving a statement credit of $10 for a Groupon purchase of $50 or more, and the shop card was $50 at that time.

I think the thing that sucks is, the way they set it up, it's totally up to them, and they don't manage gift cards well. They might not send it to you. Or like just a few years ago, mailed physical cards that were very obviously gift cards, that were stolen before hitting my locked up PO box. I went to the store to hunt it down, and coincidentally the thief had been in there that morning. But if its at all questionable, they won't send I reckon and youre stuck with the membership. These are digital cards I guess, but their management system and judgement is what I'm calling into question.

I'm not taking any chances, Costco aint what it used to be in so many ways, the in-store experience is terrible, like walmart used to be.

And why they put the carts where you have to cross the exit traffic is beyond stupid. I've been to the reverse footprint stores and thought they would fix it, but nope. Some poor guy moves a few to the median every now and then.
