I will never understand the Hue hype. It's a light ffs. Why spend so much on bulbs?

The main draw is that they use Zigbee instead of clogging up your Wi-Fi network like cheap smart bulbs do. Plus, they tend to last forever—I have some that have been running daily for seven years without dropping connection once. The color reproduction and smooth dimming are also way better than budget brands, so you're mostly paying for reliability and the ecosystem.

Stop spreading misinformation. Any reasonably good router can handle 100+ devices with ease these days. More importantly, what exactly are these light bulbs doing over Wi-Fi that would supposedly "clog up" the network?
Zigbee is a protocol that's slowly fading into irrelevance. How many manufacturers are still actively developing Zigbee products these days? Even before Matter came along, Hue was already a proprietary ecosystem that was gradually losing ground.
And based on what data are you claiming that the color reproduction is better than other brands? Also, LEDs are generally expected to last 10–20 years regardless of the brand, so I'm not sure how that's a meaningful differentiator either.
