This 10 quart oil drain container is mainly useful for catching and transporting used oil from one car or a couple of smaller vehicles, with enough capacity to avoid extra recycling trips in many cases. The compact size can be easier to handle than a 16 quart tub, and the made in USA note is a nice bonus. The main cautions are that larger vehicles can overflow it, and several comments describe messy transport, shallow design, or cap and vent issues that can lead to spills. A practical pick if the size matches your oil changes.

  • A larger 16-quart option can let some vehicles take used oil to AutoZone only once instead of multiple drop-offs.

  • A 10-quart capacity can cover single-car oil changes and reduce extra trips to an oil recycler.

  • The container can help protect a truck bed from rust after oil work.

  • The product category can hold up to shop handling when using a similar 16-qt Performance Tool-style drain pan.

  • The container can get nasty and become unpleasant to drive around or carry in a store.

  • The container can slide in a truck bed and open a drain plug, causing a major spill.

  • The vent cover can fail to stick, which can lead to leaking most of the oil during a drive.

  • The caps can strip out easily and the shallow pan can cause oil splashes during draining.

Just concurring with the earlier comments: these things are a mess. Just get a good deep drain pan and funnel and use the old container and/or an empty milk jug.

Very good for a 2 car oil change like my Corolla is 4.4 quarts. Or my Highlander V6, which is a 6.4 quarts.

If you want to have extra capacity and save your trip from going to drop off oil for recycling at the Autozone. Then you will not be able to do that if you have two V6 vehicles or V8 vehicles which maxes the capacity.

then you need at least a 16 quart capacity so you don't have to run to the oil drop off right away.
Does Autozone empty a container like this for you into a used oil tank? I always thought places like that you had to bring in old/used bottles and leave them...

I found out the hard way that a container like this can slide in the back and open one of those plugs and make a titanic mess in the truck bed.
On a positive note, your bed is now rust resistant. My pickup bed has the same weatherproofing!

I have this or similar one as well. I just pour the old oil back into the new oil container once its empty and my waste company will pick it up for free on recycle days if I place it next to the bin. I put on a peice of cardboard so it doesnt leave oil marks on the street it a little spilled over.

Yes, all the places that sell oil let you empty your container(s) in their oil recycling containers even Walmart.

I've only been turned away once because their container was full. I still think that was a ruse, more likely they were short staffed (one guy on duty who was outside helping install a battery).

how is this a good price when bigger size at home depot is cheaper?https://www.homedepot.com/pep/16-QT-OIL-DRAIN-CONTAINER-31191/340667704 [homedepot.com]
It's a good price for a 10qt, the 12$ hypertough 10qt from Walmart is trash. Bigger doesn't mean better, if you aren't driving a truck or big SUV or doing multiple changes before a drain then a 16qt is just ends up being being bulkier and unnecessary, and even more of a hassle potentially because you'd have to put your car on a ramp or lift to get clearance to even use the 16QT. My car comes lowered stock and only has 5.7 inches of clearance...the 16qt isn't an option for everyone

Is this thin enough to slide under a motorcycle for an oil change?

I have been using this 16 qt from walmart for several years and it works great. $14.42:

It gets dropped, knocked around, general torture in the shop and works fine, never had any issues with it.

If you're changing oil in your driveway, you want your catch pan to have as big a footprint as you can get. Wind and splatter can make a mess when you have a small target.

This SUCKS! Idk what shop in China makes this exact 10-qt container that several brands use. I got mine from Advanced Autoparts and the cover for the vent hole didn't stick. Ended up leaking 7 qts of oil in my truck bed and across everywhere I drove that day .

Got one just like it several years ago. It's been trouble free

Hod does this have so much thumbs up? It's a mediocre deal. Basically regular price and it's not even a good product.
