Very good for a 2 car oil change like my Corolla is 4.4 quarts. Or my Highlander V6, which is a 6.4 quarts.

If you want to have extra capacity and save your trip from going to drop off oil for recycling at the Autozone. Then you will not be able to do that if you have two V6 vehicles or V8 vehicles which maxes the capacity.

then you need at least a 16 quart capacity so you don't have to run to the oil drop off right away.

Got a ram 1500 that takes 7qt and my wife has a highlander that takes 6 ish qt. Have a 16qt and only take oil to autozone 1 time. Very useful. This will be a lot smaller and ok for 1 vehicle or 2 smaller vehicles

Or just use this and pour the old oil into the newly emptied containers and take those to the recycler?

This thing gets nasty, I wouldn't want to drive around with it or carry it in a store.

I found out the hard way that a container like this can slide in the back and open one of those plugs and make a titanic mess in the truck bed.

Always lay it in a sealed black trash bag

Exactly what I do. I buy the five quart jugs and it's easy to just pour the old back in to take to recycle.

I have something like this, it never leaves my house. I keep my old 5 q bottles, and when done with a change, dump used oil into the empty, using the funnel . I have a small old trash can with wood blocks in the bottom to keep the new bottles from sitting in any old spills. I mark the used bottles and then take years of changes in when the used shelf is full.
