The Osprey Daylite Expandable 26 plus 6 stands out as a compact travel pack that works especially well as a plane personal item and one bag carry. It fits under seats, slides over roller luggage, and the expandable design plus suitcase style opening make packing flexible for weekend trips, weeklong loads, or even longer Europe travel when zipped down. The neutral black and gray versions also pass as a business laptop bag, with room for a 16 inch MacBook Pro and other work gear. The main knocks are limited everyday organization, a big single compartment, and zippers that can feel frustrating. A strong fit if travel versatility matters more than daypack structure.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes, this price is described as usually the lowest of the year and still worth buying even at regular price. A prior Amazon deal around $65 was lower, but the current sale is still considered a strong value, especially for the non-black colors and the black version now included.

    MetaPhorseCoconutz0311jwbatesSlimeyface

  • Yes, it fits under the seat and has been used as a personal item on domestic flights, Frontier, Allegiant, and Ryanair when left unexpanded. In the 26L configuration it can squeeze into budget-carrier personal-item dimensions, but some domestic flights may require stowing it under the seat instead of the overhead bin.

    slickd888Chandhini13bakaboi461PurpleHamster866

  • It can hold a laptop, external monitor, cords, and a change of clothes without looking full, and it can fit about 3 days of clothes on its own or around a week's worth with compression bags. The expandable compartment makes it especially useful when you need extra space for short trips.

  • The biggest complaints are the zippers and the lack of internal organization. The bag also feels less ideal as an everyday daypack, and some users find the single large compartment awkward if they prefer multiple pockets.

    PurpleFruit9033bakaboi461slickRogerBarackHObama

  • Yes, the neutral black/gray version can pass as an office laptop bag on business trips and carries a 16-inch MacBook Pro comfortably. Adding organizers helps because the main compartment is large and not heavily divided.

Got 2 on that deal but it's 100% worth it at the regular price and a very good deal at this price. It's the perfect personal item on a plane.

Use this backpack all the time as a personal item for domestic flights. Its great and fits even under the seat even in the smaller aisle under seat area, and never had an issue with strict carriers like Frontier and Allegiant if unexpanded. but not the most comfortable to take on day trips; best left in your room. I bring a packable day pack to use when going out. Wish there was a tad bit more organization in the small pockets, but its great for those who using packing cubes for everything.

100% best travel backpack and passes as a personal bag on reasonable airlines.Bought one on an exceptional deal about 10 months ago for my fiance, buying another one now.
I'm looking at getting the new version which is the osprey transporter 26+6. It will take a bit for it to go on sale but I'm not in a hurry.

I have this( got it about 6 mo ago), and as much as I love osprey and their backpacks, I hate their zippers. Honestly. I am in Spain traveling now and I have it with me, but every time I need to open a zipper I swear at the skies 🤣
Other than that great quality and amazing feel.super organized design.
( I also have the 18L daypack with mesh.amazing backpack worst zippers)
Maybe I just got unlucky 2 times in a row..)
Hoping someone at the company will read this 😅

For the price difference, not sure what makes that bag more appealing. I say that after watching a direct comparison video. I honestly don't understand why they made that bag. As it's a direct competitor to this one.I'm buying this bag for 3rd time to get it in black, have the desert color & bought the purple one for the wife around the $65 range. & I could have had black but they sold out so quickly.

same price on osprey, with free shipping and returns if anyone wants to buy direct (or has a 15% coupon that they send with orders)

This is a solid backpack, though I wish it were compatible with the farpoint.

I find it great for domestic trips. On its own, I can put 3 days' worth of things in there, and then I can get 10 days combining this with a 40L carry-on. For longer/international trips, I find this to be a little redundant. My check-in can easily fit all I need, and then this backpack is a bit too big to be a daypack.

I know these are meant for travel, but I really wish they had travel/everyday for school/work. I hate the big compartment. I compartmentalize and one big one where I have to figure it out is a no for me Frown

Solid bag - got this less than a year ago for our 10yo son to use when we went to Japan and it was perfect for him. We were able to fit a lot in it and the ability to expand is huge

I believe the retail price of this was $100 last year... Anyways, this is my most used backpack so far. I used it as a personal bag during travel. Fits under the seat front of a plane. I pack light so a this can work on a 3N4D trip. Target has a bigger travel backpack at $35, but it looks like you're carrying a box.
