Use this backpack all the time as a personal item for domestic flights. Its great and fits even under the seat even in the smaller aisle under seat area, and never had an issue with strict carriers like Frontier and Allegiant if unexpanded. but not the most comfortable to take on day trips; best left in your room. I bring a packable day pack to use when going out. Wish there was a tad bit more organization in the small pockets, but its great for those who using packing cubes for everything.

I have this( got it about 6 mo ago), and as much as I love osprey and their backpacks, I hate their zippers. Honestly. I am in Spain traveling now and I have it with me, but every time I need to open a zipper I swear at the skies 🤣
Other than that great quality and amazing feel.super organized design.
( I also have the 18L daypack with mesh.amazing backpack worst zippers)
Maybe I just got unlucky 2 times in a row..)
Hoping someone at the company will read this 😅

For the price difference, not sure what makes that bag more appealing. I say that after watching a direct comparison video. I honestly don't understand why they made that bag. As it's a direct competitor to this one.I'm buying this bag for 3rd time to get it in black, have the desert color & bought the purple one for the wife around the $65 range. & I could have had black but they sold out so quickly.

This is a solid backpack, though I wish it were compatible with the farpoint.

I find it great for domestic trips. On its own, I can put 3 days' worth of things in there, and then I can get 10 days combining this with a 40L carry-on. For longer/international trips, I find this to be a little redundant. My check-in can easily fit all I need, and then this backpack is a bit too big to be a daypack.

I know these are meant for travel, but I really wish they had travel/everyday for school/work. I hate the big compartment. I compartmentalize and one big one where I have to figure it out is a no for me Frown

Solid bag - got this less than a year ago for our 10yo son to use when we went to Japan and it was perfect for him. We were able to fit a lot in it and the ability to expand is huge

I believe the retail price of this was $100 last year... Anyways, this is my most used backpack so far. I used it as a personal bag during travel. Fits under the seat front of a plane. I pack light so a this can work on a 3N4D trip. Target has a bigger travel backpack at $35, but it looks like you're carrying a box.
