I got one of these on clearance at Walmart. 1st month free for its trial. Works very good for a battery powered camera and garage door opener. I bought it about 2 months ago and its at about time to recharge it, you can buy attachments to wire it up if you want.

I don't think I'd buy this unless I'm hardwiring it. My battery runs down so fast. I need to charge it like every 4 days.

Is the battery life on this really that bad?

Also not terribly useful if replacing a keypad on the trim that's perpendicular with the door instead of parallel and facing out.

Battery is about a few months. The crazy part of this is that you cannot open garage door via wifi unless ur opener is wifi enabled... super lame. I thought this would support wifi open function in addition to camera.

You'd need something like this constantly powered to add WiFi open/close to an older opener. I bought them a few years ago when they were dirt cheap but I see they've raised the price now. https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Gara...ref=sr_1_1

A keypad likely can't add this function because it's generally not installed as a hardwire and you'd exhaust the battery even more quickly.

Avoid this company at all costs. They are anti-consumer and don't allow their products to integrate with Home Assistant so they force you to pay $10/month just to use your garage door opener from the phone app. That's why products like RATGDO exist.

These things are crap. You need a sub for the video playback, and the video drains the battery very quicklyz. You are better off buying the non-video myQ pad, which at least logs the history of opening and closing and the battery lasts extremely long. Get a separate camera if you need one so you aren't locked into another subscription.

Oooo, this is interesting and I've never heard of it. I'm mildly satisfied with my Chamberlain setup (The exact one colonelcasey posted above), but Google integration would be nice...

edit: although, maybe I misunderstanding, but I can open and close the garage door from the myq app for free... it also has nice alert/ notification options, and I like that. I can have it auto shut at, like, 10:00 p.m. If I forget to close it. also, I got it for 18 bucks in 2021.

If you have anything MyQ remember that it only takes one small action for Amazon to suddenly be able to enter your garage for deliveries. They decided to opt in my parents because they had Alexa and MyQ linked, and never once asked for permission before entering the garage.

I won't buy myQ products after they locked down their APIs to no longer work with open software like Home Assistant.

So much misinformation in here.

I have had one of these for almost 3 years now and it works well. Battery lasts at least 1 month and I use it quite a bit. I usually take the battery out on a weekend when I'm working in a garage and let it charge and reinstall it. The only real downside IMO is that charging is via micro USB (maybe that's different now) and it takes about 5-6 hours.

You do not need a subscription to open or close your garage - I think all you need the sub for is recording which I do not really care about but if you do then keep that in mind.

Amazon cannot get into your garage without you enabling that feature and some people really like it.

I have the garage opener attachment and a camera right above the door so I know who's going in and out. I've used the garage delivery from time to time (especially if a package needs to be delivered but no one is home, quick change in the app) but I also have an inside camera pointed across the front.

If you don't already have these MyQ system, I'd recommend you stay away. I don't have the keypad, but have had problem after problem with the garage door opener (which you also need for the keypad.)

That's not true. You can open and close it fine with the MyQ app and the basic door opener without any subscription. Just don't expect integration with other apps or additional functions... I haven't actually tried the keypad, so that might be 'extra'.
