For some reason, Scotts makes it very difficult to find the NPK ratio of their fertilizers, without physically looking at the bag, but this is a 20-0-8, with Biferin added for insect control. You have to go to the Product Details page, and pull up the enlarged image of the package to find the NPK. I could not find it listed anywhere else in the product information on Amazon. This is a good NPK for warm season grasses, and adding the Biferin is a good idea. It's only about a quarter percent by volume, and whether that's enough to matter, I don't know, but it can't hurt, and this is a good price.

Edit — just went to purchase and it's unavailable to me. Oh well.

It should be fine for St Augustine. 20 percent nitrogen is not super high compared to a lot of lawn fertilizers, so not as dramatic a green up, but it would still feed St Augustine just fine. It has no Phosphorus, but you may not need it, if you've used a fertilizer containing phosphorus recently. Phosphorus stays in the soil the longest. Nitrogen washes out almost immediately with a good rain, and Potassium a little slower, but not like phosphorus.

Even with S&S, the low 20% ratio results in you paying over $7/lb for the Nitrogen, so definitely do not buy this if you're primarily getting it for the N. Lowes and Walmart sell formulations that cost $3/lb for the N at their regular price. The Potassium and pesticide are useful, but can similarly be purchased for much less and mixed in with your cheap N.

Phosphorus is rock. It doesn't wash out of the soil at all. It only moves 1" per year max, often 1/4" or less. Most people don't need a bunch of phosphorus, but the phosphorus bans are due to a fundamental misunderstanding of soil science.

Mid-September is the start of the window for Winterguard, so it may be a bit late in the season to be buying Summerguard.
