This is a very cheap 80 20 ground beef deal that works best for stocking the freezer or making burgers, meatballs, and other everyday meals. The price has landed as low as $1 per pound with coupons, and orders have also hit the $25 grocery minimum for free Prime shipping by adding milk, juice, or other staples. Availability is regional and the max is 5 pounds. Freshness and quality have generally been fine, though there are concerns about unclear origin, packaging, and occasional tougher pieces.

  • Shoppers building a grocery order to reach free shipping, because adding regular items can unlock the $25 threshold.

  • Burger cooks who want 80/20 beef for grilling, because it browns and tastes like normal store-brand ground beef.

  • Freezer stockers who portion meat for later, because the 5-pound packs can be frozen and used over time.

  • Households that want a cheap bulk protein delivery, because 5 pounds has arrived for $13 to $15 delivered.

  • Shoppers who need clear meat sourcing, because the origin and country of processing are not easy to verify.

  • Buyers who need reliable cold-chain handling, because the meat can arrive in paper bags without ice packs.

  • Families uneasy about food-safety uncertainty, because recalled imported beef and expiration concerns came up in the discussion.

  • People who want premium ground beef texture, because hard cartilage-like pieces and excess liquid have been reported.

Bait and switch. Get people to try it out and like it then switch to the tainted beef once it comes in.

I guess if you're worried then don't do it but if you spend a reasonable amount of money on Amazon these grocery returns should not be an issue at all. And well before revoking accounts they will just say 'no,'…
I didn't think they could say no to returns and that's why they just revoke

Yes, with a lot of items that are marked as "non-returnable due to food safety" they will initially say no. But when you keep going on chat (I've had success with both AI and human agents) and described the issue, they've always eventually said yes. Most of the time even w/food it's immediate refund w/AI agent, no-return required. But as I've mentioned, some of this depends on your 'status' w/Amazon. I'm fairly high on their algorithm so may be getting more leniency than lesser spenders. Hence, YMMV. Smilie

Totally agree, same. I've probably ordered 100lbs of this from Amazon Fresh and Amazon Grocery and it's always been as good or better than retail grocery store 80/20. Oh, and the dogs love it as well. At $2/lb it's FAR cheaper than the crappy or even decent dog food that's out there these days…

Update... Made burgers. Tasted great. Whatever type of beef, horse, or kangaroo that was passed the test. Lol. Will update again if I develop any explosive diarrhea 😑.

ate (80%/20%) 1 of 5 lbs this week (4 of 5 in the freezer) it went as expected, no excess fat runoff from broiling well done meatballs (combined with crumbs, egg, spice, etc). i read how the wh said we are importing beef from bz & ar the next 3 months, so i expected prices to crash, but the best sale i can find in nyc 09/05 is still $3.59/lbs when you buy a 5 pound chub roll (73%/27%) so despite import market changes, op's price still rules!
