I am a self-admitted complete noob with welding. I bought a stick welder and could never quite get the hang of it. Did some research and everything I found said this was a great unit for the price if you aren't doing any industrial type stuff and...

I totally agree! The gasless flux is simply amazing and a monkey (like me) can weld with this thing. Just point and click. Works great! I sold my old stick welder after using this 2 times. I bought it for $67.48 so this is an slightly better time to buy.

Read my numerous reviews of previous deal posts from the past few months of this same welder. I wrote over 100 lines of helpful factual comparative info.

Anyone that can successfully use this, can use a stick. Just use a E6013 rod (it is very similar to the properties of the wire that comes with this machine), use the right diameter rod for the material that you're welding and go. This machine comes with a rod holder, too.

My experience with cheap Chinese welders has been that the stick welding functionality is fine but the MIG functionality is crap. Maybe I'm just a trash welder (only do auto work keeping my 1st get Tacoma alive in a rust prone area) but that's what I've found.

Yeah me, I really like this little welder. It's great for small welding jobs and runs of 110v. You won't be welding pipelines with this thing, but it's great for metal gates, trailers and other small projects. It can stick weld great as well.

Welding engineer, it'll stick metal together, but it's functional like using a leatherman to change your oil.

I think it is very dependent on the particular MIG welder you're using. I'll bet some cheap ones perform terribly, and others like this one are actually decent. This one came with a 20-pack of E6013 rods which aren't that good and are hard to maintain a smooth arc but the flux core MIG wire welds pretty smoothly. YesWelder E71T-11 has a bit less spatter and makes a slightly smoother weld than the Seesii E71T-GS wire it came with. BlueDemon E71T-11 has noticeably less spatter than either of those and flows a bit better so it is easier to make a nice looking weld.
