I'm basically using it as a 3 port 2.5gbe switch because it doesn't operate as an AP on the WAN port for whatever some reason. It is in AP mode, I never had intentions of using it as a router.
I wanted to have all three bands active but since the 5ghz was subpar and it has no external antennas, it also couldn't replace the ax86u I have near an exterior wall for outdoor smart plugs (2.4ghz devices already at -80dbm on the Asus).
Anyway it kind of sucks and I run it in 6ghz mode only, which makes it slow to discover since devices use quicker discovery on lower bands to find higher bands. The plan blew up in my face, and the UI sucks. Whatever.

The BE550 is a Wi Fi 7 tri band router with 6 GHz support and 2.5 gigabit ports, and it can be very fast when EasyMesh or MLO are set up well. The 6 GHz band and multi band performance stand out, especially in wired backhaul setups where the satellite can match the main router. The main cautions are uneven range and reliability, with reports of weak signal through walls, a subpar 5 GHz radio, a clunky interface, and occasional setup or checkout quirks. It fits best when you want the newer bands and have the right devices and layout.
The 30% checkout discount can apply after retrying when it does not appear on the first visit.
The router supports 6GHz operation for clients that can use that band.
EasyMesh can work well with a wired Ethernet satellite, with cat5 performance matching the main router.
MLO can be enabled from a PC, and it can pull multiple bands to one device.
Wi‑Fi signal can be weak through walls in a small two-bedroom layout.
5GHz performance can be worse than older Asus AX86U non-pros, limiting usefulness as a replacement.
Some units can arrive bricked, and a prior TP-Link router can also die after use.
A different TP-Link model can overheat and cause Wi‑Fi drops even after daily reboots.

I'm in for one BE550 as a primary router and the BE5000 as a satellite AP via Ethernet backhaul to try out EasyMesh. I'm hopeful that this combination will outperform my old faithful Netgear R7500v2.
