I've "hacked" six Dewalt and Milwaukee tools over the past year with no issues, but I didn't return anything. I order both items from different stores and call to cancel pickup of the unwanted item after picking up the item I want. From my experience the discounted price for each item is displayed at checkout and charged separately.
