Really? I thought wasps and yellow jackets are useless and just aggressive annoyances

Raid Wasp and Hornet Killer is a fast, long range spray for knocking down wasps at a safe distance, and it is also reported to work on Joro spiders. The spray is described as strong enough to reach nests under railings or near eaves, with contact kills happening quickly. Price checks put it around $4.95 with Subscribe and Save after a coupon, though other stores have competing deals. A broken spray cap was found on the second can in one purchase, so checking the packaging on arrival is wise.

Common Questions (4)

  • A lower price is available in some places: $2.50 per can at Lowe's, $5.99 for two at a local Bi-Mart, and a 3-pack with 25% more content for $9.99 at Sam's. One checkout total also came to $4.95 with Subscribe & Save after a $0.75 coupon.

  • It can kill wasps on contact and has a strong spray that reaches nests from a safe distance. That makes it useful for nests under railings or near eaves where you do not want to get close.

  • It reportedly works well on Joro spiders in infested areas. The spray is also described as strong enough to hit the target from a distance, which helps when treating webs or nests.

  • Yes. One can's spray cap was broken and unusable by the time the second can was needed, so the package should be inspected right away to avoid missing the refund window.

I walked out on my deck today, and got chased off of it by wasps. They had made a nest right under one of the railings, and didn't like me walking around near them. I normally don't mind wasps. I have a backyard garden, just behind the deck, and I love to see wasps in my garden. They are very beneficial. They fly around the plants looking for caterpillars, and I can be right next to them, and they never come after me, but that's not the case when I'm close to their nest. Then, they get very aggressive, and go into attack mode. I hate that I have to kill them, but I can't risk me or my grandkids getting stung, for simply walking out on the deck.

An alternative is $2.50/can at Lowe's. If one is already shopping there.

FYI: Check those spray caps when you get them. I purchased this a few months ago. I finished one can, and when I went to use the second, I found the spray cap was broken and unusable. It was too late to get a refund.

The Spectracide 18.5 oz. 2-pack at Home Depot is a better deal, especially with military 10% off. Plus it works better than the Raid brand.

They are. Grandpa is keeping wasps in the backyard for pest control. It is as smart as keeping rattle snake in the basement for mice control.

Any ideas on how to spray the nests that are far reaching - near the roof/under the eaves?
