This refurbished Acer Aspire 14 stands out as a strong sub 400 dollar value for a modern Windows laptop, especially with 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a recent Ultra 5 chip. The refurb has been described as looking nearly new, and the package can include a sleeve, touch screen, facial recognition unlock, and a two year warranty. Battery life is reported as all day for office work, with a lightweight 3 pound chassis that suits basic SaaS, browsing, and school use. The main knocks are middling keyboard, touchpad, screen, and build quality, plus it is not a gaming laptop and long term Acer durability remains a concern.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. The 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and modern Ultra 5 CPU make it a strong sub-$400 value for SaaS apps, office work, browsing, and YouTube. It is not a gaming-first machine, but it fits everyday productivity well.
It is certified refurbished and includes a 2-year warranty through Allstate/SquareTrade. The unit can arrive looking brand new, with reports of the Acer logo still stickered and very low SSD power-on counts.
It weighs about 3 lbs, so it is fairly portable. Battery life can be all-day for basic office tasks, and it has also been described as lightweight with long battery life.
It is not a gaming laptop, but lighter games and some modern titles can run acceptably at 720p and 30 fps. One owner also reported playing every game they tried on it, so performance depends on the title.
It can include a laptop sleeve, and a clean Windows install from a flash drive using Rufus is a practical setup approach for a fresh start. The touchscreen and facial recognition unlock are also included.

Still, it is a good deal in this current environment. It is certified refurbished (like new), with 2 years of warranty.
I am not a big fan of Acer because they cancelled my order before (because I got the low price).
There are some Acer models in ebay I am watching daily.
The prices just increased on those.
But a good deal is a good deal.

I checked the harddrive w/ CrystalDiskInfo and from what I can see, it only had a total of 3 power on count and power on hour was less than 5. So for all intended purpose, the laptop feels new to me. Like everyone said, screen is not the sharpest and not the lightest laptop, but for $400 with 16GB & 1TBSSD, it was a great purchase for my high school aged child. Touch screen and facial recognition unlock.
