Fabs are being created afaik and we should start seeing some relief end of 2027 apparently. I do not have a crystal ball though. That's pure speculation and pulling it out of my arse (the relief part, not the fab part).

I understand this is a Gen 5 drive, but I'm not down paying $175-$190/TB. It's ALL currently overpriced. Gen 3, 4, 5, ALL of it.

I consider myself a super user. I do use local LLM's, run queries against dbases, program in Python, have a scratch drive, etc. Gen 3 and Gen 4 drives are absolutely fine for me.

Nobody has a time machine but 2TB WD SN850x's were like $120/ea or a little less a year ago. These prices are ridiculous.

Not really sure what you'd be doing with a drive like this outside of wasting $ if you're not in video production or something.

Ripoff prices... dont think for a second these companies arent price gouging and that if they can get away with it for data center ai customers with unlimited budget they wont with regular customers regardless of supply demand dynamics.. industry will have to be regulated

Weren't there lawsuits already against storage and Ram companies? AI is illegally causing a disruption in the market and regulations need to be set in place, we are being forced into an oligapoly. Hold and punish with your wallets.

A loaf of bread also used to be a nickel

8TB drives were around this price a year ago. Was bread a nickel a year ago?
