Community Reviews
This Ridgid 18V starter kit stands out for high capacity batteries and unusually strong value, especially for tools that drain fast like blowers, shop vacs, trimmers, and rear handle saws. The 8Ah packs are described as beasts with noticeably better runtime and power than 4Ah batteries, and the included charger adds extra utility. The main caveats are weight and some listing confusion, since the pictures and box did not always match the contents. Registration for the lifetime warranty also came up as an important step.
The kit can deliver longer runtime for blower, shop vac, and weed wacker use without swapping batteries.
The effective $7.125 per Ah cost can beat a $10 per Ah rule of thumb for higher-capacity needs.
The deal can include all batteries plus chargers, with some deliveries arriving with two chargers total.
The batteries can help during power outages by charging more packs faster with the included chargers.
The listing and packaging can show picture or labeling mismatches, including confusion about whether the 4Ah batteries are EXP.
Shipping can be handled by questionable carriers, and delivery status may not match what happens at the doorstep.
Registration for the lifetime warranty can fail for the 8Ah battery kit even when the 4Ah kit registration works.
The included 4Ah batteries cannot be returned, which can force selling locally if they are not needed.

I plan to use the batteries for the shop vac and fan. The 4Ah are fine for my other tool needs and I have one nice, light 1.5Ah battery that I got for cheap in another deal for short-use power tools, for small projects. It's not a huge weight savings, but convenient for rotating tires and such. Doesn't even use one bar of the 1.5, so even the 1.5 is overkill.
ETA: oh, yea, one of my kids is still small enough to ride the 12V power wheels, modified to use these Ridgid batteries. It zooms and 8 Ah should provide much better run time.
