This Ridgid 18V starter kit stands out for high capacity batteries and unusually strong value, especially for tools that drain fast like blowers, shop vacs, trimmers, and rear handle saws. The 8Ah packs are described as beasts with noticeably better runtime and power than 4Ah batteries, and the included charger adds extra utility. The main caveats are weight and some listing confusion, since the pictures and box did not always match the contents. Registration for the lifetime warranty also came up as an important step.

  • The kit can deliver longer runtime for blower, shop vac, and weed wacker use without swapping batteries.

  • The effective $7.125 per Ah cost can beat a $10 per Ah rule of thumb for higher-capacity needs.

  • The deal can include all batteries plus chargers, with some deliveries arriving with two chargers total.

  • The batteries can help during power outages by charging more packs faster with the included chargers.

  • The listing and packaging can show picture or labeling mismatches, including confusion about whether the 4Ah batteries are EXP.

  • Shipping can be handled by questionable carriers, and delivery status may not match what happens at the doorstep.

  • Registration for the lifetime warranty can fail for the 8Ah battery kit even when the 4Ah kit registration works.

  • The included 4Ah batteries cannot be returned, which can force selling locally if they are not needed.

And HD doesn't care about porch pirates. HD to you: "Make a claim with the shipping company." Um, honey, we're not the ones who made a contract with the shipping company -- YOU did. They don't care about what we say.

Expect things to go in circles for DAYS. Be prepared to go onto Twitter for some public shaming @ their customer service handle. It's about the ONLY way I've gotten results.

You want HD to fix it -- they usually won't. You need your credit card company to do a chargeback. HD is one of the worst companies to deal with when it comes to customer service complaints.

And as soon as you do a chargeback, you get banned as a customer.
You got banned after? How did you find out? Have you tried to appeal?

It's really common with most stores. The moment you do a chargeback, they don't want to do business with you. Walmart, Home Depot, Steam, Amazon, Google, etc. You gotta ask yourself -- is it worth losing your account over it?

I got a partial delivery - just the 8s so far. Well, one email and text say my order was delivered, but one says partial. What's odd, and annoying, is that the batteries were shipped in the original stock box. Luckily no damage, but I can't tell if it's been previously opened or not.
I received all batteries with one charger, as advertised. Excellent!

Edit: each pack of two came with its own charger! It just wasn't pictured on the 8Ah box.

4 batteries and 2 chargers received as well — even more than the original deal (though I have a few too many chargers now 🙃)

I've got two, including this one. Will help during power outages to charge more batteries faster. I think three would be overkill. I can't imagine there's much of a market for just the charger out there, right?

ETA: each set of batteries came with a charger, sorry for the mixup. Just to note, each charger is a different model, and each is different than my OG charger from years ago.

Same. Was not expecting a charger with the 8ah 2-pack. Honestly even the box doesn't show it. It says on one tiny print corner 2x8ah and charger. Almost like it was a mistake or something, maybe that is why it was part of the slick deal. The website had product page inconsistency, so does the box.

Anyone else have issues registering their LSA?

I was able to apply for the 4AH battery kit LSA, but the 8AH battery kit kept throwing errors. I emailed them and, if I don't hear back by mid next week I'll call to see what's up.

Yes, same here. LSA will not go through for 8Ah batteries. I also noted that about 80% of my saved receipts have disappeared from the LSA web page.

I've got a confirmation email for an LSA on my 1.5AH battery, but it still shows limited online. Makes me nervous

The Ridgidpower website is a mess. I am missing at least 20 receipts that I uploaded previously. 11 tools that qualify for LSA are currently showing 3-year warranty, and one is showing warranty expired. It used to be that you could straighten all this out with a quick phone call to them, but not anymore. Luckily, I have my own copies of all the receipts. I'm going to have get in touch with them at some point and get this resolved.

After getting nothing but errors the 8AH kit now shows, "action required" - a receipt needs to be uploaded. When I tried to upload the receipt, the same receipt that seems to be working for the 4AH kit, shows up as selectable again...so, I selected it and submitted. The 4AH kit shows, "LSA PENDING" fwiw.
