Have read online that these "off-brand" systems work just fine, but just do not have the longevity of the major brands (like Mitsubishi et.al.). Can anybody refute this? Repped, OP.

I really wish 'Planned Obsolescence' and vested interests weren't an issue. I'd love to have more confidence in these.

That's been my experience. The indoor blowers start becoming noisy after a year or two

If you stop and think about what youre doing, you'll realize vacuuming the lines is necessary in all applications. Harbor freight has a vacuum pump for <$100. Guage cost another ~$25. Well worth investment.

Confirming you do have to vacuum the lines. I got a set from amazon for $100. Worked great. Vac for 30 and then close the lines to hold the vac for 30/check for leaks.

I bought one of these exact units direct from the manufacturer. You need to have a vacuum pump and HVAC gauges to remove all of the air and moisture before releasing the refrigerant. I bought my pump and gauges for ~$150 years ago and have used both a few times to install mini splits for family and myself.

The unit comes with 16.5ft linesets and communication wires to match. The included drain hose is shorter by a few feet. It also includes the electrical whip in the box to go from the disconnect to the unit, which I did not expect, and they use rubber grommets for the wires. I opted to make my own watertight whip instead, but probably would have been fine.

All in all, I paid $408 for the unit and around ~$100-150 in concrete, romex, breaker, THHN wire, flexible conduit, and a disconnect box for code compliance. I paid double for my Senville units in the other parts of my house just for the units themselves, not including the rest of it.

Also, the WiFi controller is a Tuya controller. As such, if you're using a home automation system like Home Assistant, it will integrate just fine if your system supports adding Tuya-controlled devices (other than a Fahrenheit to Celsius conversion bug I ran into). If you're already using the Tuya or Smart Life app for other home stuff, you can just straight up add this device to your app without using the Cozeware app. It's all going to the same place and is just a rebranded app.

Finally, some people were concerned with the units failing "in a year or two". However, this company covers the units for 5 years for general failure and 7 years for the compressor. And they also explicitly state that DIY installs are covered, unless you screw something up during install that causes your unit to fail. Assuming the company doesn't go under, seems like a decent bet. I also reached out to their customer service team with questions regarding the Tuya API for my home automation system and they responded within a few hours. Overall, I've been really impressed for the price I paid. If it keeps chugging along, I'll probably keep buying their units.

My Turbo 12000k unit I installed in my basement three years ago just started to ice up (lines and coil). I could spend $150 on refrigerant, not knowing if that will fix it, or buy a whole unit for$400. I'm going with a new unit.

Check AutoZone or the local suppliers that do loan-a-tool programs. A lot of them have vacuum pumps and gauges
