This $100 DoorDash gift card at $85 is mainly useful for trimming the platform's markup and fees, especially on pickup orders or when stacking with promos and rewards. The card has been redeemed successfully right after purchase, and it can help offset surcharges or make a pickup order cheaper than paying in person. A few caveats stand out, including order cancellations when trying to buy more than one, and a separate Sam's Club price of $80 for members. A practical way to stretch DoorDash without paying full freight.

  • The deal can work for purchasing and redeeming multiple DoorDash $100 digital gift cards without immediate issues.

  • Pickup orders can reduce delivery fees, and coupons can make pickup cheaper than ordering in person.

  • The gift card can help offset DoorDash surcharges when paired with CSR credits.

  • The gift card can be applied toward certain promos, including cases where the promo value changes after listing.

  • The purchase limit may reset daily, which can allow another purchase after the site updates.

  • Tax calculations can appear inconsistent across DashPass orders, and estimated taxes may come out higher than expected.

  • Multiple DoorDash gift card orders can be canceled shortly after checkout, which suggests a strict per-customer ordering limit.

  • Some orders can be canceled due to orderable quantity limits even when only one gift card is attempted.

  • Coupons and promos are merchant-specific, so they may not apply to every DoorDash order.

And kill the small businesses since doordash gets a big ole chunk of every order - 6% for pickup and up to 30% for delivery (not to mention their other fees like processing, marketing, tablet rental and on and on). This drives up costs for everyone, but we don't see it up front so it must be ok, right?
Restaurants still make money or they wouldn't do it.

Menu prices are inflated to cover a bunch of overhead that's dine in specific. The rent to be in a good location. Floor space to seat people. Floor managers, hosts, servers, insurance, the dish pit. A delivery order doesn't use any of that. It's food, packaging, maybe an extra person in the kitchen. It's why you can get the same sandwich cheaper off a food cart than sitting down at the place next door.

The problem for a lot of small shops is they look at the statement, see $800 in commissions, and read it as $800 somebody took from them. They're not comparing it to what it would've cost to seat those same people, or asking how many of those orders even happen without the app. There's nobody in the back office doing that math. The owner is the cook and also the guy fixing the walk-in at 11pm.

Meanwhile the chains ran these numbers years ago and just raised their delivery prices 10-15% to cover the difference between DoorDashes cut and their reduced costs from delivery. Small shops usually run one menu everywhere and eat the whole thing. So yeah, when a local owner says DoorDash is bleeding them, they're probably telling the truth. But it's more of a pricing problem than a DoorDash problem. Corporate at the big chains sure isn't complaining.

Customers are the other half of it. Nobody wants to pay what a delivery actually costs. $10-15 is about right. There's no route density like Amazon has, most of the time it's one driver going to one house with one order. But people are used to free shipping and will lose their minds over a $12 fee. So it gets buried in the restaurant's cut instead.

And DoorDash isn't exactly cleaning up per order. They made around $935M last year on 3.2 billion orders. That's like 30 cents a delivery. Profitable off volume, not off squeezing any one order. Nobody's making anybody use it either.

Not great, but good enough. Can be particularly helpful if you're trying to use CSR credits to offset the surcharge.

Can you use DoorDash credits on digital games? Thinking can buy this for the discount, then if you buy a game for $50 DoorDash gives a $15 gift card too.

So would be nice to essentially get a pretty good discount on a game.

Although it lets you order more than one via separate checkout, they get canceled 15 min later. only 1 can be ordered it seems.

Most stores got rid of the instacart, uber, and DoorDash gift cards. Plus with this deal it's available to everyone and you don't have to drive.

I think the purchase limit resets everyday. So if you buy one now you can wait 6+ hrs or wait until the website updates (12am CST).

Yes you can. I was able to do this for the $25 promo (updated to $15 now). YMMV but worked on star fox which is $49.99 even though it says $50+. It's good to use a state with no sales tax as your address (since it's digital) to avoid the taxes.

These companies just need to die.
While their normal practices are abysmal you can game the system. I only use this for a taco truck I love. Prices aren't marked up. I always pick up my own order. I usually end up paying less than if I were to go there and order it in person

Thanks. I read all the comments because I had this question as well.
