I would bet you will start seeing strange math.

I always assumed that the taxes were calculated correctly.

Not now.

Cannot trust Doordash.

I have no clue what they are doing.

I know much the sales tax is. The subtotal is after the promo codes.

On 2 of the 4 orders, the "estimated" taxes were still higher than they should have been even when using the higher deliver fee and the higher service fees.

Agree, which is why I buy the gift cards at 15-20% off, only do pickup (to avoid delivery fees), and wait until they drop 40-50% off coupons. If you look on the receipts they paid full price for the food, but you got it below MSRP. As long as you only purchase your food this way, you are actively hurting the company.

Although it lets you order more than one via separate checkout, they get canceled 15 min later. only 1 can be ordered it seems.

And kill the small businesses since doordash gets a big ole chunk of every order - 6% for pickup and up to 30% for delivery (not to mention their other fees like processing, marketing, tablet rental and on and on). This drives up costs for everyone, but we don't see it up front so it must be ok, right?

Doordash rarely seems to have coupons though. Where are you finding them?

DoorDash is doing some creative with the taxes that we the customers are paying to them.

I have DashPass.

Order #1 : tax calculated on ---> subtotal of the order + delivery fee + service fee + something else
Order #2: tax calculated on ---> subtotal of the order + $0 delivery fee + Dashpass delivery fee
Order #3: tax calculated on ---> subtotal of the order + delivery fee + service fee + something else
Order #4: tax calculated on ---> subtotal of the order + $0 delivery fee + service fee

The "something else" I have no clue.
I am using a spreadsheet.

There was a post about this on Reddit.

I suspect that Doordash is pocketing the taxes that we the customers are paying and what the actual taxes should be.

With billions of orders a year, that comes to a sizeable money grab.

The markup for DoorDash orders is about 20-25%. At least for the local sushi restaurant.

I have noticed odd math on all 4 orders I placed in July and August.
