This YOSUDA magnetic rower is a low-cost entry option for beginners or anyone wanting basic full body cardio at home. It is described as quiet enough for low intensity workouts, easy to live with, and fine for getting started or returning to rowing. The main drawback is weak resistance, even at the highest setting, and the tablet holder feels flimsy. It works as a starter machine, but it does not come close to higher end rowers.

Common Questions (5)

  • The YOSUDA is positioned as a cheaper entry machine, while the Concept2 is repeatedly described as the better long-term buy with stronger resale value and more support. If you want to test rowing without spending much, the YOSUDA can make sense; if you want a more durable rower with stronger resistance, the Concept2 is the preferred choice.

  • The resistance is reported as very light even at the highest of the 16 levels, and some users say it is not enough to break a sweat or match the lowest setting on other rowers. It can still work for basic cardio and beginners, but it is not a substitute for a Concept2 or other higher-resistance rower.

  • Yes, it is described as a solid entry-level rower for beginners or people getting back into rowing. It is quiet, works for basic workouts, and is considered a reasonable low-cost way to test whether rowing is something you will stick with.

  • It is reported to support an XL frame, but the stroke can feel limited and some users mention difficulty getting a full stroke. That makes fit acceptable for larger users, while the rowing motion itself may still feel constrained.

  • Yes, it has app connectivity and an iPad-style clip-on holder, and it can be used with scenic rowing or music-based workout apps. Some of those apps have small monthly fees, and the music-focused option is noted as especially useful for longer sessions.

The main issue with this rower is that the resistance is marginal and the inability to perform a full stroke movement. However, for the price it's decent and it's quiet enough for low intensity cardio while watching TV. If you're looking for resistance but also for it to be relatively quiet, then the moderately more expensive water rower for ~$50-75 is worth looking into. The air rowers are loud but also the standard will be priced least $500, whether used Concept2 or new Merach R50 Pro.
Do you mean a YOSUDA for $50 ish more? Please any model suggestions? TY.

I returned the YOSUDA Magnetic for Merach R28 Water Rower for $270, which is more than $50 I was looking at the $190 price point, sorry for being a bit inaccurate. Yosuda has their own with a similar price point, Just make sure to carefully review and research it. As some water rowers specifically the Merach 10 blade R21 Rower (AKA R300, eco-rubberwood model and doesn't fold all the way) also has the issue of low resistance.

But I do love the R28 which I use daily, even with its junk stats, in which I use separate phone app Kinomap and my smart watch to check stroke rate and push/pull duration. I think the Yosuda Water Rower is actually better, with better screen and stats while retaining the same full dynamic water resistance feel and may go on mini-sales on Amazon.

If you can, just get a Concept2. Or start with this, and if it takes (many stop rowing bc it can be miserable), then get a C2. Arguably the best (almost) full-body workout machine on the planet, especially with C2's support, competition, and community.
I don't believe someone researching a rower for 129 bucks is interested in a Concept that retails for 1000. Concept is a great machine, but still a grand.

I get your point, but it's not that stark a contrast. Many looking at this Yosuda will pay more for a good rower and good used C2s can be had for around $500.
