This YOSUDA magnetic rower is a low-cost entry option for beginners or anyone wanting basic full body cardio at home. It is described as quiet enough for low intensity workouts, easy to live with, and fine for getting started or returning to rowing. The main drawback is weak resistance, even at the highest setting, and the tablet holder feels flimsy. It works as a starter machine, but it does not come close to higher end rowers.

  • The tablet holder can be flimsy, but the app-based scenic or music workouts may help long sessions.

  • The machine can work for beginners or people returning to rowing with basic workouts.

  • The resistance can feel quiet enough for low-intensity cardio while watching TV.

  • The rower can provide a full-body workout experience similar to other magnetic rowers.

  • The deal may not be the best value versus Concept2 clones or used Concept2 options around $500.

  • The resistance can be marginal, making full-stroke movement difficult during use.

  • The highest tension setting can be too weak to break a sweat in about 30 minutes.

  • The top resistance level can be laughably weak compared with lower levels on other rowers.

Good for beginners , supports my XL frame. Tablet holder is really flimsy.

I am new to rowing machines and want a concept2 clone, any names you'd suggest of actually good ones?

Here is an idea - this is a good entry level machine - if you actually use it and outgrow it - sell - and buy a better concept2. Otherwise you might wind up wit a very expensive clothes rack.

I ended up buying this one, but I'm debating returning it for the concept2. It might be my technique, but I wasn't able to get past zone 1 after rowing for an hour switching between the 10-16 setting. I was constantly around 25 SPM. I regularly workout and run/cycle. I had an ankle injury so I'm trying to get cardio in through rowing instead while I recover. Anyone who rows have any thoughts or experience?

Get the Concept2. I have one in my vacation home up north and one in my main home. My main unit gets used at least 4-6 hours a week. My vacation home unit i had for 3 years and maybe used it a total of 50 hours. I sold it at a $200 loss. I dont think there is a piece of exercise equipment that will give you that kind of return in investment. Best part is when you list it, it sells that same day because it's literally known all over with many gyms using the same model. The only thing that is bad is the seat but thats for all rowers and you dont want something overly cushioned as that will mess with the motion. Buy the Concept2, rehab your ankle for 6-12 months, sell it for $200-300 less than what you bought it. If you use it 40 hours thats $5 an hour more than worth it. There are also two apps now that have classes (both prerecorded and live) that give you rowing rhythms and play music like a gym class, helps 2-3 hours melt away esp if you like the music. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask otherwise i would highly recommended reading the Concept2 subreddit and reviews on reddit both good and bad so you know what you are rowing into.

Anyone buy this?
I did and just put it together. I am returning it. While I'm not expecting commerical gym equipment quality, the resistance is absolutely laughable. They say 16 levels with the highest being super sport mode. The highest is an absolute joke and not even as resistant as the lowest level on others I have used.

Damn shame cuz everything else seems good for this price, but having negligible resistance on the highest level is a deal killer. Now to take it apart and try to box it up again...sigh.

iPad clip on holder, app where you row through scenic vistas against yourself or other rowers, there are a lot of apps, some have small monthly fees. I used the music one and that worked best for any work out over 2 hours

The main issue with this rower is that the resistance is marginal and the inability to perform a full stroke movement. However, for the price it's decent and it's quiet enough for low intensity cardio while watching TV. If you're looking for resistance but also for it to be relatively quiet, then the moderately more expensive water rower for ~$50-75 is worth looking into. The air rowers are loud but also the standard will be priced least $500, whether used Concept2 or new Merach R50 Pro.
I was about to base my purchase off how much fitness reimbursement I get from my insurance plan ($300 per year). Now I'm aiming more towards the Merach R50 Pro. Thanks!

I assembled and used this for one day. The highest tension setting is entirely too weak, even for someone who has not exercised recently. I was hoping to break a sweat in 30 minutes, but it fell short. I am only keeping it because I threw away the box and cannot return it, but I will eventually sell it.
