Okay this is going to sound stupid. But what's the advantage of this over a normal usb C cable and a phone brick style adapter that's rated 65w or higher?

Ive been just using a small adapter to save space in my bag and a travel power strip in case i wanted more length or the plug was in a hard to reach space.

Nothing much to be honest. This is PD rated meaning it will support fast charging, most of the smaller ones also support PD now a days.

Probably "cleaner" power and more efficient. Usually the case with laptop power bricks - there's a reason aside from being larger. But i dont care and haven't noticed benefits but there's a community out there that measure the sine waves or whatever from chargers to determine the cleanest power and efficiency.

I use my original Lenovo laptop charger as a super fast charger for my phone. This would be a great additional unit.

Yikes [amazon.com], and 17% 1 star reviews. I think I'll stick to the smaller GaN chargers.

Don't know about this brand so not sure about the quality. But if it is from normal laptop brand like Lenovo that came with the laptop, bigger charger that came with the laptop usually has this advantage....

Superior "Heavy-Load" Stability
  • Continuous Max Output: High-performance laptops (especially those with dedicated graphics cards) can draw a continuous, heavy load for hours.
  • The Difference: The large Lenovo brick is bulky because it features massive internal heatsinks, heavy copper shielding, and thick insulation designed to sustain 100W indefinitely without breaking a sweat. A tiny 100W GaN charger gets incredibly hot when pushed to 100W for hours, which can cause it to thermally throttle (drop its wattage to cool down) or prematurely degrade.

Also if you keep using small GaN running hot to charge your laptop for whole day each day, extreme Heat Build-up. Those small GaN charger will experience high thermal stress, likely lasting 2 to 3 years before internal component fatigue takes a toll.

In a tiny GaN charger where everything is microscopic and tightly packed, this thermal stress can eventually crack tiny solder joints on the circuit board, causing the charger to suddenly stop working. Also, liquid electrolytes inside the capacitors slowly dry out over time when exposed to constant high heat. Once those capacitors dry out, the charger fails completely.
=================

Again, Using Lenovo big charger as an example., not this specific charge since not sure about the quality.

Use the small GaN charger for travel where portability matters most and you don't need to use it to run laptop under heavy load for hours at a time. Otherwise, use the big brick that came with the laptop which you can easily run the laptop at full load for hours without breaking a sweat.

That makes sense I suppose. What if say the charger is 100W and the laptop only needs 50W since it's not using it at full strength wouldn't that help? Either way I may keep an eye out for one of these from a more reputable brand. That or when I order some upgrade parts for my laptop toss an OEM one in. They finally made back-lit keyboards for it which is stupid i know but something I desperately wanted since launch lol.
